To think Yodel delivery drivers are knobs

We have sent quite a few parcels the past couple of mths & Yodel has fucked up on the delivery on quite a few of them, they lost one parcel completely, delivered another to a wrong house & then now today one of our customers emails us to say their parcel arrived today but so did a parcel that should have gone to the other buyer!!
FFS! Dont they read the labels with the address on them?
Of course customer services are shut now so we cant sort anything out till Mon morning now.
Fuckin incompetant,& the only reason we carried on using them was becasue they credited our account with the amount of goods they lost, otherwise i would not use them.

I've found them good. Some stuff from Amazon and the Book People arrives via Yodel and never had a problem.

kneesofnorks · 10/12/2011 20:33

we have had 3 separate deliveries over the last 2 days that Yodel have failed to deliver - despite the fact 2 of them were rearranged deliveries from midweek!

the attitude from thier call centre was disgusting too, I was told that Im not thier customer so they have no reason to do anything i ask, despite the fact that im paying for the service Via my supplier!!

Im now stuck with no way of collecting the deliveries as I have no car and evidently no chance of yodel bothering to deliver anything, meaning among other things we will have no xmas tree this year :(

I would strongly advise you if you want to have a successful business to not use yodel, as I certainly wont be ordering from any company that uses them in the future, and going by the stories people have posted online I certainly wont be alone in that!

DoingTheBestICan · 10/12/2011 20:37

That is exactly the attitude they had when we rung them about the first deliveries that went missing, they just couldnt give a shit!

I reckon they have lost about £200 worth of deliveries in the past mth, whenever we have asked what is happening & can they please track where the missing parcel is they tell us something different each time.

I most definitly will not be using them ever!!

kneesofnorks · 10/12/2011 20:39

currently I have about £250 of goods that Ive paid for and they have sat in a warehouse - if of course its not been "lost" and thats why they havent delivered!

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 10/12/2011 20:40

They tried to deliver to us at 9pm last night. I was in bed Blush. They knocked on my neighbours door to leave it there. OK I'm pleased that they left with a neighbour but surely that's late to be knocking

Yama · 10/12/2011 20:43

YANBU x 1000.

I had to cancel an order with the White Company due to driver claiming he had delivered it to me. Yodel didn't get back to WC's queries so I cancelled (sob).

I told them I would not order from them again while they used YODEL.

DoingTheBestICan · 10/12/2011 20:44

They have picked parcels up from our house at that time of night, when you book a pick up with them they can pick up from 8 am so you are basically waiting in all day & night for them.

I mean yes great that 1 of my parcels have been delivered but to send the other to them as well when it is clearly marked to be delivered to another address not even in the same city!! I guess i am just lucky that my customer was honest & informed me,she could have kept it like the last customer did last mth.

This is why I send with CollectPlus as I can drop them at the corner shop at my leisure. I can't bear waiting in for couriers.

I can't believe that they delivered a package to your other buyer. They must have rubber-banded them together when they collected them.

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 10/12/2011 20:47

Did they used to be HDNL? They left a box of £200 M&S clothes on my doorstep. I don't have a front garden. My front door is on the pavement. How they can consider that to be a sensible idea, who knows?

KD0706 · 10/12/2011 20:49

I ordered a Christmas present from John Lewis before I'd heard the whole Yodel chat. It's being delivered directly to the recipient as they're at the other end of the country. But I'm getting concerned as according to the tracking website thing

KD0706 · 10/12/2011 20:51

Oops blooming iPhone. Try again.

I ordered a Christmas present from John Lewis before I'd heard the whole Yodel chat. It's being delivered directly to the recipient as they're at the other end of the country. But I'm getting concerned as according to the tracking website thingimy, the parcel was loaded onto the drivers can Thursday lunchtime and there's been no development since then.

hypnotisingchickens · 10/12/2011 20:51

They delivered to us at 10.30pm last week and looked surprised when DH answered the door in his pj's...

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 10/12/2011 20:51

my last yodel delivery arrived 30 mins ago, safe and sound, i was getting very concerned by reading about them on here.

DoingTheBestICan · 10/12/2011 20:53

This is the second time they have delivered 2 parcels to 1 address instead of 1,God knows what they do to make this mistake, even my 5 yr old ds knows how to read addresses

Monday morning should be fun trying to tell them what has happened & getting them to pick up the parcel from the wrong address & deliver it to the right one.

And there was me feeling sorry for the pick up driver cos it was late at night & he still had more pick ups to do.

Yodel are shite. I ordered a pram online from mothercare, as there isn't a SINGLE pram shop in my entire town. I was told it would be a 1pm-6pm delivery. I got to my house at 11.30am to find it just LEFT outside my door. A £200 pram. I mean, WHO in their right MIND does that?! I must have just missed them, or it would have gone, here.

Now, I check who they use - but when you have had problems with both yodel and shittylink, it gets almost impossible to order anything online...Which when your town centre consists of Charity shops, nail bars and coffee shops, means you can't buy blooming ANYTHING. We don't even have a toy shop.

newrose · 10/12/2011 21:30

sigh

It all depends on your local driver. During Black Friday mine tried to deliver my lovely new boots in the only 15 mins I was out (pouring rain) - got back absolutely soaked, massively underimpressed I'd have to do the whole redelivery thing, doorbell rings and there stands Mr Yodel. He'd worked out I was probably on the school run so decided to try again as it was 'easier all round'.

I also have a postman who sees the 'sorry you were out' card as a badge of shame and will virtually break the letter box to get small parcels to me. I am truly blessed :)

EvaLongoria · 10/12/2011 21:38

I ordered paint last Friday and was supposed to receive it on Tuesday but apparently they had a big backlog.
Was out all morning got home the afternoon and it was Yodel. He has my parcel in his can but must warn me that the box is damaged as wine fell out. I am like ok. He then brought me a really badly broken box had no top and the sides and bottom are falling apart because the wine soaked the box. It stank of red wine I dont drink it's actually against my religion but I was just desperate to get the paint because I needed to finish off my bedroom.
Will try and use companies now that doesn't use Yodel.

PickleMyster · 10/12/2011 21:39

They are crap, they left a Kindle (£89 and FIL Birthday present) on the doorstep for anyone to nick - luckily I got home at lunchtime. It put me off ordering Christmas presents from Amazon this year. Much prefer Royal Mail.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 10/12/2011 21:56

I can say this now the very last one of my Christmas parcels has arrived safely, but I have never had any trouble with Yodel at all... the bloke is a little bit strange in that he comments that it "must be something expensive" if it needs a signature and looks like he really thinks I'm going to tell him, and a couple have had suspicious little viewing the contents holes in, but everything has arrived on time and contents intact. I am thankful for this though, having seen all the threads here lately - some people do seem to be having a nightmare with them.

Kelly281 · 10/12/2011 22:32

I've only had a good experiences with Yodel, I think it very much depends on who the delivery driver is in your area.

Hermes Europe on the other hand are a nightmare, the tracker on their website never works so you have no idea when it's going to arrive. They also have no telephone number on their website for phoning customer services, so goodness knows what you're supposed to do. I've had a bad experience with them today after paying £7.50 for guaranteed delivery today, so will be avoiding anyone that uses them.

Nevertooearlyforcake · 10/12/2011 23:43

I've recently moved from flat with communal stairwell to house. The Yodel driver told me he often couldn't deliver a card to the flat as he couldn't get into the stairwell. He didn't like ringing other people's buzzers as apparently they can get annoyed - I supposed the postman doesn't have this problem because it's not just a delivery which benefits one house only. Once he suggested I pop round to his house to collect.

So, I believed Yodel was the most rubbish until last week when I noted a scrawl on the back of another envolope I hadn't looked propery when I'd picked up the post from the floor because seemed to be junk mail. It was from the Royal Mail postman to tell me a package had been put in a wheelie bin - this had been the day before. So I hoicked the bin bag out that had been there for 24 hours, tipped up the bin and sure enough there was my parcel. If I hadn't noticed that scrawl it would have been straight in the crusher!

NotADudeExactly · 11/12/2011 05:30

YANBU!

We live in an apartment block with a reception desk that is staffed around the clock. Like all residents here, we've stuck a little note on our letter box that says the following:

"PLEASE DELIVER ALL PARCELS TO THE FRONT DESK AT [house number next door; literally five metres away] WHERE THE RECEPTIONIST WILL SIGN FOR THEM. THANKS!"

Yodel managed to completely ignore this and took my parcel right back home. I called, waited for ages to speak to a human and then re-arranged delivery stating specifically that the parcel was to be left at the front desk.

Come the next delivery date and they pull off the exact same stunt once more. I called back to complain and was told that it was "not secure" to do what I was asking (not that Royal Mail, UPS or FedEx ever had issues) by some rather rude rep. The total value of the item being delivered was less than £10.

I did get my parcel delivered in the end and it was passed on to our receptionist as requested. However, that was only after I insisted on speaking with a supervisor and got quite vocal - not usually me at all.

keely027 · 11/12/2011 12:38

oooh i hate yodel. i dont buy from companies using them. if you think its bad getting deliveries, you want to try collection. took me a MONTH to get them to pick up and i have a post office at the end of my road! have to stay in from 7am to 7pm just to suit them. Not to mention you are charged 10p per minute to talk to them. Hate. Hate. Hate

I'd never heard of Yodel before this thread...but I've just got a delivery from them through Sports Direct.

There were no problems and I wasn't actually expecting the parcel til Tuesday cos they'd said '3 working days'.

I didn't expect them to count the weekend as working days so it's all good Xmas Grin
