as the bloody thing loves climbing my xmas tree so much, she gets up inside the tree and climbs, the tree is shaking, baubles falling off then when she is 3/4 of the way up she sits there looking at you with claws ready, just move one bauble and this black clawed paw shoots out

Oh, the joy of cats at Xmas. I have 5 to contend with. Last Xmas we didn't have a tree because we had a 12 week old kitten and it was just asking for trouble ... this year, I will risk it but don't hold out much hope. You need to bank on losing at least a dozen baubles every year ... either broken, or chased under the sofa. If you use lametta or tinsel, the cats WILL love it, and WILL pull it down - constantly. Yes - it's very likely at least one of them will climb the tree and pull it down, and if you have a real tree, and you have boy cats, it's also likely that they'll spray all over it. Getting an artificial one put paid to that (so far as I know) but as they're much lighter, they're much more likely to fall over.
