To be going quietly batshit over my Ebay listing? Hold my hand you bastards!

Honestly, the tension is appalling. I am selling a valuable Thing on Ebay and desperately need it to make a big pot of money, it is still sitting on its starting price with one bid and twenty four watchers. It's got to go for more than the starting price now, hasn't it?

runningwilde · 10/12/2011 06:15

How much did ya get

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 10/12/2011 06:57

How did it go?

And what was it? (go ooooon tell us)

I always find starting things at a lower price makes something go higher in the end. Bizarre really but I guess it hooks people in.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/12/2011 07:22

Any more bids?

SolidGoldVampireBat · 10/12/2011 09:59

No more bids yet Xmas Sad, it's ending at about 11pm tonight. I don't think the BIN disappears, I think it stays so people can jump in if an item appears to be about to go for only slightly less than that.

FabbyChic · 10/12/2011 10:20

I've had 20 odd watchers before and its sold at the starting price, some people watch because they have the same thing to sell and want to see what it sells for, watchers are not bidders.

You must be in the US, in the UK the bin disappears as soon as a bid is placed.

maxybrown · 10/12/2011 10:32

I was about to say that fabby about the BIN Grin the only way a BIN stays in the UK is if someone has set a reserve also, and it isn't yet met. Good luck though, you never know!

misdee · 10/12/2011 10:34

If there is a reserv thea buy it now won't go till the reserve is met

LaurieFairyCake · 10/12/2011 10:34

Is anyone else absolutely dying to know what it is? Hmm Xmas Grin

A gold gimp suit? A crystal encrusted dildo from that posh dildo shop - maya something?

Flisspaps · 10/12/2011 10:35

Buy it now does vanish on the uk site as soon as a bid is placed. I was selling a top last week, nothing rare or fancy but got 18 watchers on it. It went for a fiver - I was over the moon Grin

caramelwaffle · 10/12/2011 10:36

Good luck with the sale: hope you get a good price.

Letz · 10/12/2011 10:38

yep, I agree with coccyx - Fur coat without a doubt.

maddening · 10/12/2011 10:47

You could relist as bin or best offer, that way you can decline the offers if too low?

littlepie · 10/12/2011 11:04

If you're happy with the £100 leave it, if not pull it.

DH recently had 58 watchers on an item and only had 2 last minute bids-luckily he had a reserve so didn't sell it.

SolidGoldVampireBat · 10/12/2011 11:34

Yup, is fur coat. Vintage fur (was my grandmother's) with a Harrods label. Still holding at £100. Am going to go out now rather than keep checking and upsetting myself.

sparkle12mar08 · 10/12/2011 11:40

So what happened? Am on tenterhooks!

LaurieFairyCake · 10/12/2011 11:40

Found it, beautiful coat - I'm sure you will get plenty for it Xmas Smile

sparkle12mar08 · 10/12/2011 11:40

Bugger, didn't read properly!

FabbyChic · 10/12/2011 11:42

She already said there was no reserve hence my post never mentioned it.

maxybrown · 10/12/2011 11:49

I wasn't directing it AT you fabby, just generally talking bollocks outloud Grin

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 10/12/2011 11:50

I have also just found it am far too nosey and it is really beautiful.

I don't know if you have done already, but if you look at completed listings for fur coat Harrods, you can actually count yourself lucky to be getting at least £100. I know, you were hoping for more, but the going rate seems to be around that mark so anything over now would be a bonus.

Good luck!

Trills · 10/12/2011 11:52

Good luck!

DodieSmith · 10/12/2011 12:02

Given that most people wouldn't be seen dead in fur, £100 seems a decent price. It is a lovely coat though. Maybe your bidders are in Italy or somewhere.

chocolateyclur · 10/12/2011 12:04

Good luck. I've been in similar situations selling collectable toys, and had mixed results - bidding wars at the end, or ongoing lack of interest.

AKissIsNotAContract · 10/12/2011 12:06

That's a good point. Perhaps if you offer international shipping it might go for more.

jimswifein1964 · 10/12/2011 12:13

I think you might be losing interest because you haven't listed precise measurements; chest and length. For high value items, people want to see all the details. Perhaps you should also photo the wear & tear, as describing it might make it sound worse than it is?
