To think that these person/s deserve a death sentence? (Child abuse)

A 4 week old baby boy who has been raped and beaten this baby boy not only suffered from rape, but from such severe beatings he has been left with all his ribs broken, a broken arm, broken collar bone, punctured lungs and severe bruising, he has even suffered a cardiac arrest at such a young age.

How can people do this to a child? If a person has a child they do not want they could always leave it at a hospital or in a police station, surely that would be humane? This is just sheer evil.

Do you have a link to a news report on this?

ElizabethPonsonby · 07/12/2011 21:20

Whilst what happened to the child is appalling, I cannot condone state sanctioned murder for any crime.

PoppadumPreach · 07/12/2011 21:20

though i am against the death penalty generally i really struggle when there is a crime relating to children and it is very clear who the perpetrator(s) is/are. I could not read the story in detail but from what i know, i wouldn't be troubled one bit if these evil people were "put down". I think morally it is probably wrong to do so, but emotionally i feel entirely justified in saying it.

I know this is another wrong thing to say but i really hope they have a bad, bad time in prison.

nancy75 · 07/12/2011 21:20

All the local paper has reported is that a child is in hospital and the police have said the rumour spreading is unhelpful to their investigation, 2 people have been arrested. Afaik none of the info in your post has been released oficially so unless you know someone involved is all hearsay?

troisgarcons · 07/12/2011 21:21

Thats local(ish) to me (Gravesend). Thats last weeks news. The parents are on bail. So one has to presume that there has to be a case built first and a conviction.

Knee jerk threads just dont hook me in

but this is better rreading on vigilantism

squeakytoy · 07/12/2011 21:22

The information in the OP was reported in the national press detailing those injuries.

slavetofilofax · 07/12/2011 21:23

YANBU, but I'm not sure that the fact that it was a child makes it worse than if it were an adult. Plenty of adults can be vulnerable and defenceless too.

and

www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/9402440.Police_urge_calm_after__unhelpful_speculation__and_vigils_for_one_month_old_baby/?ref=mr

35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, who were arrested on suspicion of assault, have been released on bail until Thursday.

Kent Police said this is to allow officers to carry out further investigations to find out why the child had to go to hospital and if any offences have been committed.

Mr Jerome said: ?It is a very serious investigation - one which we are conducting thoroughly and professionally."

He said officers were working "extremely closely" with medical professionals treating the boy and said it was not uncommon for bail to be granted to people arrested in investigations of this type.

EllenandBump · 07/12/2011 21:25

It was on facebook from the department for justice, there is a link to a petition for a indeterminate sentence with no chance of parole at www.gopetition.co.uk, under life sentence, no chance of parole for the person/s responsible for the rape and torture of a month.
www.gopetition.com.

I dont think anyone who could do that to an innocent child could be human, maybe we should use them for medical testing instead of the poor animals they use?

This is local to me too, was totally sickened when I heard about it. Was gobsmacked to see that the parents had been bailed, although obviously as troisgarcons says, maybe a case has to be built.

FreudianSlipper · 07/12/2011 21:27

yes this case is horrific

there is no point in tryign to understnad why some people commit such crimes (leave that to the professionals)

but no i do not ever agree with the death penalty

i don't belive in the death penilty.

Methe · 07/12/2011 21:27

I agree with you. They should be culled like the useless problematic wastes of oxygen that they are.

HeidiKat · 07/12/2011 21:29

I don't think they deserve a death sentence, I think they deserve a life of hard labour with no access to medical care and their meals dependent on how hard they work. If they are unable to work they starve. Perhaps then their suffering would equal that of that poor child.

EllenandBump · 07/12/2011 21:30

Surely we could use them for medical research, they are obviously no good to anyone if they can do something this sick. And why should the tax payers pay over a £1000 a week for such evil persons?

Exactly, use these evil heartless sick * persons instead. My mum would take on an extra cat or couple of bunnies (she already has 5 cats and 17 bunnies but hey whats a couple more?)

I get that the government will never bring back hanging but medical tests would be interesting? There would be less objection to it too, think of all the animal rights activists that will agree, oh yes less protests etc. Win win all round.

Camerondiazepam · 07/12/2011 21:44

I also fundamentally disagree with the death penalty.

Methe · 07/12/2011 21:45

what would you like to see done with a person convicted of raping a baby and causing it so much pain it has a heart attack?

What punishment is appropiate?

BrianAndHisBalls · 07/12/2011 21:46

Could you get MN to add 'child abuse related' to the thread title please? I didn't realise and had read a line of the op that I'll now never get out of my head.
