To warn anybody thinking of shopping online from John Lewis that they use Yodel as their carrier

so it's pretty hit or miss as to wether you'll ever receive your purchases.See my sorry tale in the thread below. That being the yanbu Yodel thread and not the one on Chat or Christmas re recommended sites (and those to avoid).

If you need further info Google Yodel complaints, should put in doubters(yes you John Lewis too) right in the picture. Reviewcentre makes pretty interesting reading as does BBC Watchdog.

Upsy getting a Yodel card is like getting the Black Spot imvho.

Get on the phone now,you need to ask for a manager and ask for everything to be reserved just incase it goes out of stock. You need to ask why they're using such a crap company when anybody who can Google can read their reputation in full detail.

Good luck and just keep ringing.

Well, tidings of comfort and joy for you all. We live in Glasgow, so we are in the eye of the storm today, and being battered by 80mph winds as we speak. The Yodel man has just turned up on my doorstep with the parcel I ordered on Monday. He looked a bit windswept and reckons he's the only person out working tonight. So, there are some gooduns out there.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 08/12/2011 18:05

well mine has been dispached so fingers crossed, the last one i ordered arrived by yodel and it got here safe and sound so i may be lucky second time around, but you lot have me worried, its dd's christmas present!!!!!

rosebery · 08/12/2011 18:29

Yodel / home delivery network deliver for elc too. They kindly left over £50 worth of toys in our drive in full view of the road and anyone passing by. I had been at work all day - not exactly a safe place!

I phoned elc to complain and the guy I spoke to told me that they were aware of the problem and that it was the source of most of the complaints elc receive. Well sort it then!!

Do we really need to start boycotting online stores to make a reasonable point? I hope not ...

londonmackem · 08/12/2011 18:42

All my Amazon presents have been delivered by Royal Mail but never had a problem with Amazon. Shame JL are outsourcing delivery at all really:(

Yama · 08/12/2011 18:49

Well, I finally got through to the White Company. The woman I spoke with informed me that it was 'delivered in manifest'. She didn't know what this meant and went off to check.

Still none the wiser she came back and told me she would email YODEL (or HDNL) to tell them to redeliver the package. I'm wondering what good that will do since Yodel are claiming they have delievered the it.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/12/2011 18:50

I'm really fed up with John Lewis. Ordered a washing machine from them that was supposed to be delivered within a week direct from manufacturer. A week and a half later, no sign so I ring. Apparently manufacturer out of stock, they are getting more in but can't guarantee when delivery would be.

I gave up, ordered same product from Co-op Electrical which arrived before 7.30am the next day. Then rang to cancel JL order and was told he'd have to out me on hold while he checked with a supervisor. Luckily for him he was sensible enough to say they'd refund me as I was about to hit the roof.

TartyMcFalalalalalalalalarty · 08/12/2011 18:58

Seems to me that it makes no difference if the tracking record shows the parcel as 'out for delivery' or not - it'll be returned to the depot if Yodel don't get round to delivering it.

Gap use Yodel too - I cancelled my order when the expedited delivery hadn't turned up after 8 days - it arrived the next day and I refused to accept it as P's shopped elsewhere.

Am still waiting on ny Amazon order via Yodel. The Royal Mail part of the order arrived after a couple of days.

Xmas Angry Xmas Angry Xmas Angry

Yama · 08/12/2011 19:57

Right, I have emailed The White Company again. This time to cancel my order and I have asked them to confirm that they have credited my account with the money.

A response would be nice.

TartyMcFalalalalalalalalarty · 08/12/2011 22:05

Yep. I've told Amazon that if my order, which has been out for shipping since Tuesday, isn't here tomorrow I'm cancelling. I also told them that a boycott is on the cards!

blondieminx · 08/12/2011 22:56

Another yodel tale of woe here, White Company order arrived over a week late so after our works Christmas party. Held at yodel depot for 3 days :( emailed White Co monday morning to complain... They replied today. Service since i last ordered from them has declined dramatically :(

sleepevader · 08/12/2011 23:02

yodel were about to put my parcel in wheelie bin- all because he couldnt two minutes for me to get to the door. Twat

sleepevader · 08/12/2011 23:03

sorry meant to say on rubbish day

griff31 · 08/12/2011 23:13

Elc used yodel.

Delivered a few toys.

left on display in glass unlocked porchway
no card
if they had been nicked I would have been none the wiser.

One was huge expensive baby activity centre worth £100

rang elc customer service -shockingly expensive to ring
they said they sorry nothing else.

my mate has same thing 6months ago she rang elc they resent
few months later she found a few soggy parcels behind her shed!

hermionestranger · 08/12/2011 23:30

I haven't got enough time in my life to list just how shit HDNL are!

Shall we start with the "lost" jane matrix pro car seat? 3 MONTHS that took to get refunded. Lost my arse. It only went "missing" after going out for delivery. Dickheads.

The £150 amazon kindle left on open view and easily accessible because they couldn't be arsed to knock on the door, even though they were adamant they needed a signature.

The cake decorations not delivered because the driver pulled into my mum's drive (farm so he would have had to come through the gate) took on look at the distance and turned around and left without even getting out of the van! Even though he saw me coming out to meet him and take them! Refused re-delivery because it "needed signing for" and I couldn't be in the next day, even though I could provide a safe place for it to be left. See above.

The parcels casually dumped on the drive at this house.

City link and Hermes however are excellent. Especially my city link driver, he's local and has got to know my routine (school run, etc) bless him.

MissMogwi · 08/12/2011 23:39

Can I add my own delivery hate please! Hermes the bastards. Should have been here before 1pm yesterday, no show. Then i was told it was on the van and would be with me before 3pm, then 9pm. Did it? No.

Was then supposed to be here before 12:30 today but just in case they let me down the bastards they asked if could leave with a neighbour. Lo and behold it didn't come. Rang Next tonight, hermes driver came at 4:30, he might try again, oh, might he? How good of him.

Now it's out for delivery in the morning again.

Best line from Next customer services:leave a note on the door saying you are out and to leave with neighbour.
Why don't I just leave the fucking front door unlocked instead? Angry

And breathe!

TartyMcFalalalalalalalalarty · 09/12/2011 11:44

Amazon tell me I should wait until 15th for a parcel due 2 days ago before I contact them again ... Erm, it(s December, they're. Christmas presents. Do they really think the delivery situation will have improved by then?!

Apparently they still don't have any control over which carrier is used. Er ... Why? Hmm

Please let's boycott the companies that use Yodel.

mumeeee · 09/12/2011 11:57

Play.com use various companies to deliver stuff. Although they do use Royal mail a lot. They do tend to. be a bit slow although all my stuff arrived with 10 days of ordering it. Yodel are hopeless. DH tracked an order which said parcel had been delivered and they had put it in the porch as there was know one in, We don't have a porch. So he went and looked out the front. Found the parcel just placed outside the front door. DH,me and DD3 had been in all evening and the parcel wasn't there when DH had come in earlier in the day.

Annsad · 17/12/2021 00:23

John Lewis using Yodel delivery service please be warned they are terrible Dec 2021. Think about ordering online.

SenseSphere · 17/12/2021 00:26

I’ve ordered lots of stuff from John Lewis and never had any problem with them at all. In fact, the opposite, they always arrive on time and well packaged.

SenseSphere · 17/12/2021 00:27

Oh, just seen how old this thread is!

RestingMurderousFace · 17/12/2021 00:34

I find Yodel okay these days, they used to be much worse.

It’s Parcelforce that makes my heart sink, for some reason they are incapable of following instructions to leave package in safe place. They prefer instead to take it back to my ‘local post office’, except that they don’t. They take it back to the post office in the next fucking village!

antisocialsocialclub · 17/12/2021 00:46

Yodel put my record/vinyl in the recycling bin that had inches of water at the bottom. I now have a very wet record with a doggy cardboard sleeve!

antisocialsocialclub · 17/12/2021 00:46

Soggy Grin

Ah yes Parcel Force. I was wfh all day to make sure I was in for the package. I had a notification on my phone that they’d tried to deliver. They didn’t even knock. When looking at where they’d left it, all I had was a postcode which made it look like they’d posted it in some random house in a housing estate. After trying to channel Sherlock I found there was a tiny newsagents there. I was so cross.

Another time someone knocked on my door and said they’d found my parcel in the road! (That was PF too!)
