Surely if you can't afford it you have no choice.

Lose a days pay or lose more than a days pay every month if tjis goes through??? On top of ever increasing cost of living and pay freezes.... yeah don't believe the bollocks about 1% pay rise a lot of us won't even grt that!

diabolo · 30/11/2011 18:13

Everyone was Shock - The other 2 Union reps (different unions) didn't come in and obviously, no-one expected them to.

So are all those striking going to go on the picket lines? Or as my teacher friends are doing- looking after their own kids cos' their children's school are on strike?

If the school is shut, there is unlikely to be a picket line - who would see it? Confused But I went on the march and the rally and took ds with me - as did lots and lots of parents.

hmmmm.
I think "i can't afford it" can sometimes be shortsighted.
if the proposed pension changes come into effect, I'll be down be the equivalent of a day's pay in every single pay packet, so I hope (no doubt in vain) that sacrificing a day's pay now will be cost effective in the long run.

my two dc (one baby, one schooly) came on the rally with me, BTW

YABU OP. If you are that hard up that you won't be able to eat, there are Union hardship funds. Or you can not eat - some people think the principle is that important, or are aware enough that the financial implications of not winning this battle will be far more than a days wages.
