Ha ha , it's shilpa shetty and the chicken carcass down the loo again

SarahStratton · 27/11/2011 20:21

I'd have flushed them too, better than clogging up the sink u-bend. Not so sure about the chickpeas, I think I'd have drained them, then binned.

No I wouldn't, I'd have eaten the soup and chickpeas. Blush

CarolCervix · 27/11/2011 20:21

but why not just chuck them in the bin?

why empty them down the loo????? why??????? why?????????????????????

OP posts:
grovel · 27/11/2011 20:22

And the problem is?

cjbartlett · 27/11/2011 20:22

Why not just leave in tin and bin!

HeraldAngelSinging · 27/11/2011 20:22

What a waste! There's nothing wrong with tinned goods when they are past their sell by date! Vinegar is a preservative. There would have been nothing wrong with that either! How ignorant.

hiddenhome · 27/11/2011 20:22

Just chuck 'em in the bin. It's weird to put stuff down the loo. The rats will be happy though Grin

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2011 20:24

What about the recycling of the tins though? Empty tins into food waste caddy, wash tins and put in recycling.

That's what I would do but everyone has different recycling instructions.

MardyBra · 27/11/2011 20:25

I would chuck that stuff down the vinegar and soup down the loo, so I could recycle the tins or bottles. The chickpeas would go in the bin (after draining).

southeastastra · 27/11/2011 20:25

putting stuff like that is weird too i agree, just put in the bin or keep, they are canned Confused

didn't someone find a whole chicken in a can, from about 1934 and they opened it and it was still okay? Grin

MardyBra · 27/11/2011 20:25

x post with sparkling

nocake · 27/11/2011 20:25

It's far more enviromentally friendly for them to go down the loo than end up in landfill.

Having said that, none of those things needed to be thrown out. Balsamic vinegar doesn't go off and tinned foods keep for years and years.

Whatevertheweather · 27/11/2011 20:25

Not sure about unreasonable but certainly very odd!

Can i just say Carolcervix best.christmas.namechange.ever Grin even though it's not December yet

GrownUpSparkler · 27/11/2011 20:28

I'd stick them down the loo, then recycle the bottles/tins. When we have leftover soup that goes down the loo too, and I make fake puking noises as I do it because the way mum makes it, it does look a bit like sick. It pleases my little brain. Grin

Alouisee · 27/11/2011 20:28

This country needs more Insinkerators.

Hth

TheElvesSawBatgirlKissingSanta · 27/11/2011 20:32

I put un-eaten weetabix down the loo. Hmm

KateShmate · 27/11/2011 20:35

Sparkler I do the same thing with soup - my girls all crowd round the loo and watch as they find it hilarious!

FWIW - I would have flushed and recycled tins/bottles..

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2011 20:38

Is it just me with the food waste caddy fiasco every two weeks?

CarolCervix · 27/11/2011 20:41

WHATEVERTHEWEATHER - IT IS ADVENT.

sorry caps

why down the loo?

if you must ditch it surely you put the contents in the bin. why down the loo?

OP posts:
ginmakesitallok · 27/11/2011 20:44

because - you want to recycle the tins/jars so want to empty before you dispose of them. You don't want to put chicken soup down the sink because it might block it - so sensible thing to do is put it down the loo. I don't think it's weird at all! If we've got left over soup/dhal etc then we put it down the loo rather than in the bin (who wants lots of wet slushy stuff at the bottom of their bin?)

ViviPru · 27/11/2011 20:45

I flush the coffee grouts down the loo because I don't want them down the sink and its easier to swill them around with a bit of water in the cafetière and flush than try and dig them out into the bin.

nocake · 27/11/2011 20:48

If you compost, ViviPru, chuck the coffe grounds on the heap as they're really good for the garden.

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 27/11/2011 20:49

Yak.

It does make sense to do it, as gin said, who wants wet slushy stuff in the bin?
But I don't think I could do it- think I'd just put the tins back in the cupboard

My grandma tips bowls of left over cereal down the toilet, the sound it makes is so revolting.

CarolCervix · 27/11/2011 20:52

all these people trecking upstairs with pots and stuff to empty down the loo.

weird. very very weird.

i use binliners.

I have an in-sink-erator Grin I love it. No more leaking bins. Only thing that doesn't go down the sink is fat/oil.
