dh thinks i am u.

i think i'm not.

i have at least a year left to pay for my boring, practical, silver, plastic box on wheels.

it is my car. i pay for it, it rarely gets driven by dh.

his car is also boring. and a bit old and crap so is he

next time i want a fun, pretty, silly vehical. he thinks as his boring, old car is crap i should get a newer boring practical car.

i say bollocks to that and if he wants to do boring then he can.

he may be old and boring and a bit crap but he's going up the shop to get me a bottle of red blessim.

this is most certainly not a midlife crisis. i am far far far too young for that.

i juts want a bit of fun in my deeply boring and un-fun life. and if that means driving in a fun car then so-bloody-be-it.

How about a Lotus?

Or a Mustang?

An Audi RS4 might be more in budget?

All of which have 4 seats and a boot Wink

ViviPru · 27/11/2011 18:34

YABU when you can have a fun, pretty, silly, practical stealthwagon like the Prumobile

thenightsky · 27/11/2011 18:36

Go for it!

I got me one of these

Also got pic on profile.

Now the little roadster is my hobby and I do track days, rally days and help to moderate a specialist web site/car club.

I kept my grey plastic box style car for work and boring stuff.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/11/2011 18:36

It depends what you both mean. You can find cars with a bit of poke, fun colours, nippy but not arsemobiles. You can get a sports package for a Honda Civic, FFS. Then there are arsemobiles.

purplepidjin · 27/11/2011 18:37

You can fit 2 adults and three under 10's in my car

VeniVidiVino · 27/11/2011 18:39

I love that link atyourcervix, do you need to consider booster seats etc for children? If not then stuff him tell DH in a calm and considered manner that you will do what you like.

Good man to be on the wine mission though.

purplepidjin · 27/11/2011 18:40

Seat Leon's do very well on Run What You Brung days at Santa Pod Grin

thenightsky, DP's a car obsessive fan and highly recommends the Smart jobbies like you've got Smile

AtYourCervix · 27/11/2011 18:42

I don't need to consider the brats at all as I'd rather not drive them anywhere. therefore i only need 2 seats, one for me and one for the dog and my handbag.

he is back with 2 bottles of pink cava. one normal cava and a bottle of red. and sweets for the dds.

ViviPru · 27/11/2011 18:45

In that case, if I were going down the truly frivolous route, Rivage or die for me

VeniVidiVino · 27/11/2011 18:51

Do it! YANBU (unless said dog is in your handbag Hmm) mulitcoloured joy unconfined.

VeniVidiVino · 27/11/2011 18:51

multicoloured of course

grumplestilskin · 27/11/2011 18:54

YANBU, they are very economical and easy to service being basically micras

VinaApsara · 27/11/2011 18:54

If you don't need the practicality and can afford it, go for it - I would.

AtYourCervix · 27/11/2011 18:59

wheter i can afford it depends on whether i win the lottery or the premium bonds between now and jauary 2013,

but i am v glad to here they are nice and economical and micraesque. i shall use that in my persuasion.

carabos · 27/11/2011 18:59

YANBU Wink

purplepidjin · 27/11/2011 19:00

Vivi, that is very nice but they become an obsession (see above link, although mine isn't cooled by devil's piss)

AYC I'm sorry to say it but they drive like a cow. You might as well get a tax exempt classic and develop very strong arm muscles

AtYourCervix · 27/11/2011 19:04

s'ok pij. where i live and where i work are either end of a really good roman road. hardly and corners Grin

OP posts:
natation · 27/11/2011 19:04

YABU as I cannot stand cars, with the exception of electric ones I suppose.

purplepidjin · 27/11/2011 19:07

Envy at not having to haul the steering wheel down narrow country lanes with no power steering

I wouldn't ditch my bug for all the tea in China. DP and I harbour a long-range plan to get a big diesel motorhome so we can tow it to shows when we're rich and have a family Grin
