They are open with information and the options available. Decisions are made with full parental input and in a transparent, evidence based atmosphere. I find it surprising why parents challenge and question these processionals.

Err...yeah Hmm

Nice to hear you have had such a positive experience.

Probably find though (with most things including public services) that is very much a postcode lottery. I guess it also depends on the SN in question.

I fear so. How many posters would be on here saying something positive about the education system and provision for those with sn?
More likely to spot a unicorn.

tabulahrasa · 26/11/2011 10:10

Hahahaha

Meglet · 26/11/2011 10:10

Sarcastic or been living in a cave.

Urine-extraction detector has red-lined!

hiddenhome · 26/11/2011 10:13

You're joking aren't you? I almost pushed one worker from CAMHs down the stairs due to her winding me up not taking me seriously when I was in a state of desperation over ds1 Sad

AFuckingFestiveKnackeredWoman · 26/11/2011 10:16

Bazinga!

FrothingBeserker · 26/11/2011 10:16

They are so open with information that they deliberately lied to me about knowing that other school options existed for ky dc. Yep. Nice and open.

And so helpful that the statementing process took 5 times as long as it should.

What a positive experience it was, for all of us.

slavetofilofax · 26/11/2011 10:27

I had a positive experience with them when ds was in the process of being diagnosed with AS, and I am having a positive experience with them now in the school I work at. They are two different boroughs.

They are not all bad, and the problems probably come because there aren't enough people in the jobs that make a difference. But all the proffessionals I have encountered have truly wanted to help and have gone out of their way to make a difference to the children concerned.

Dawndonna · 26/11/2011 10:31

I'm with Sheldon!

raspberryroop · 26/11/2011 10:39

This is basically what a SW has said to me - can't understand why I would possibly want to Home educate rather than send my son to a SN that is ''lovely'' but does not meet my sons educational needs. Why on earth would I want to disagree with a 'professionals' opinion ?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 26/11/2011 10:46

Op, do you also put rocking horse shit on your flower beds on a regular basis ?

raspberryroop · 26/11/2011 10:52

Erh - as in a SW could not possibly say this ?

OP posts:
julienoshoes · 26/11/2011 11:18

WOW! If you have an LA like that I'm impressed.

I seem to be inundated with calls from parents of children with SEN, whose schools and LAs are not helping-but are making things very much worse.
More and more parents of children with SEN are turning to Home Education, in desperation over the situation in schools!

julienoshoes · 26/11/2011 11:19

Oh I see -now I've read your second post raspberryroop I understand.

julienoshoes - can I ask what you do ?

OP posts:
CardyMow · 26/11/2011 21:39

Raspberryroop - Of course you shouldn't question the 'Authority' of a professional...because you might start to question her (the SW)...the chance of getting a decent SN placement in my LEA is rarer than rocking horse shit being thrown over a blue moon by a unicorn on a day when hell has frozen over that is caught by a centaur who was watching pigs fly...

PontyMython · 26/11/2011 21:45

I'm not entirely sure what your post means - do you mean your SW says you must not homeschool because your SN child would be better off in school and the LEA is so brilliant the sun shines out of its arse?

You'd be better off posting on home ed board if that's the case :)

dazeykat · 26/11/2011 21:49

If that's your experience YANBU. But, I think it's not a universal one (understatement).
