to think using the 'single parented' as an insult on twitter is inapproaiate for an up and coming comedian?

In response to someone who was annoying him, Russell Kane said

"Unfunny is one word, you single-parented, destined-for-the-gutter, cunt. Ps Your nan is in Bukkake. And? blocked."

How is that not complelty offensive? I am shocked tbh

It's a long winded "bastard".

TunaTiebacks · 23/11/2011 23:31

It's not bastard though is it? Surely a bastard is (was, bit outdated now!) someone whose parents are unmarried, but unmarried does not necessarily mean not together.

Russell Kane is a dick, and YANBU.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/11/2011 23:58

I don't think it's funny, it's moronic, but you can't police other people in what they choose to think and say, OP. You can think what you like, you don't need other people to agree with you for validation.

HairyGrotter · 24/11/2011 00:02

What is up with his new 'goth' look? I find him mildly amusing (I'm a lone parent) but I find his constant movement a little irritating.

TroublesomeEx · 24/11/2011 08:33

I don't like Russell Kane.

In theory I should fancy him. He's my type but he just makes me want to have a shower. Didn't help that I saw him presenting a middle of the night TV show wearing just his pants.

Just ignore him.

Helen thanks for that. I actually didn't get it until you explained. Nice!

Heleninahandcart · 24/11/2011 09:25

He is still a cunt though Grin

MollyTheMole · 24/11/2011 09:34

I like Russell Kane. Most comedians will offend someone at some point so YABU IMO

lottiegb · 24/11/2011 09:45

At face value you're right but, as someone brought up by a single parent I don't 'feel' this as an insult. Helen is right and, I think he's referring to the demonised stereotype of single-parenthood - feckless, teenage and benefit-dependent - thus dismissing a sector of society and the person by association, in exactly the same way that the word chav does.

The reality of single-parenthood is more complex - Prince Charles was one for many years (and he's not teenage at least...). I'm sure if we pointed out examples of responsible, admirable single-parenthood the response would be 'well obviously that's not what I meant'.

BupcakesandCunting · 24/11/2011 09:45

It's not funny (the your nan bit was, however) but I don't find it offensive.

Whatmeworry · 24/11/2011 09:47

Some people are easy to offend. Comedians always offend some people. YABU.
