In response to someone who was annoying him, Russell Kane said

"Unfunny is one word, you single-parented, destined-for-the-gutter, cunt. Ps Your nan is in Bukkake. And? blocked."

How is that not complelty offensive? I am shocked tbh

Shocked? Nah

It's a very funny comeback...though of course we all find different things amusing (and shocking) Grin

timidviper · 23/11/2011 22:54

You can see from his tv appearances he's a rude and aggressive dickhead. Why are you shocked?

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 22:55

"destined-for-the-gutter, cunt." does not offend me. Whatever floats your boat as a comeback.

Using the fact that someone may have only been raised by one parent as a negative I find disgusting.

It's the implication that two parents are better than one, that a single parent must do a rubbish job I find offensive

I hate the word "cunt" being used as an insult. That plus the single parented comment... Am not shocked by either - unfortunately - but certainly not to my taste, and I won't be searching this idiot when looking for entertainment.

splashymcsplash · 23/11/2011 22:57

I know comedians tend to be politically incorrect, but as a single parent I am a bit Hmm and Sad that anyone would find that appropriate to use an insult.

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 22:57

I don't give a shit how rude or aggressive he is.

It isn't right to imply that a whole section of society, ie people raised by single parents' are somehow a lower domination that those raised by two people.

So why follow him? Just "unfollow" and move on.

Sorry wine has been taken, so typo's galore. But my point is still valid.

How on earth is this acceptable? Have we gone back 100 years?

OP posts:
JaneFonda · 23/11/2011 23:03

Russell Kane isn't exactly up and coming, he's pretty well established.

Not exactly shocking, not the most offensive thing I've ever read, but not exactly funny, either. Eh, doesn't really matter, it's only twitter.

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 23:04

No No No annalovesmrbates, the fault is not mine for following him (although that has been recified now) the point is when did this become an acceptable form of insult?

When did we, as a society, say 'yes, lets reduce a whole section of society to a pile of non achieving nothing just because they had one parent raising them?'

I mean, I know tories are in power, but surely David Cameron hasn't managed to brainwash us as to the power of two parent families this effectively and this quickly?

OP posts:
bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 23:07

Yes it does matter. If it's on twitter (and now MN), that means it's in our social consious and by saying nothing we are saying it's ok to deamonise and public slate single parent children as being non achievers.

Well. yes. let's just label them before they are born. That won't hurt their chances at all Hmm

OP posts:
Daydreaming · 23/11/2011 23:11

I find that deeply offensive and shocking.

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 23:13

Oh, daydreaming, thank god! I honestly thought I was in a parallel universe for a moment

OP posts:
randommoment · 23/11/2011 23:14

Russell Kane isn't actually very funny is he? But if we as a society condone foul language as a norm, we end up with this.

FabbyChic · 23/11/2011 23:14

I don't find it shocking think that is a bit of an extreme word to use, its bigoted and pathetic nothing more nothing less.

Sevenfold · 23/11/2011 23:16

wow if that is a funny comeback I am not laughing

Heleninahandcart · 23/11/2011 23:19

Why are people missing the point here? It's specifically using single parents as a legitimate targets that's the problem, not swearing. Anyone can be a cunt, no?

bemybebe · 23/11/2011 23:19

it is not funny
what does it have to do with tories? Confused

Heleninahandcart · 23/11/2011 23:21

Child of single parent. Just got it, he's bring clever about the word bastard.

MissPricklePants · 23/11/2011 23:23

As a single parent I find that comment disgusting!I am not shocked though what with the negative stereotypes of single parents.

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 23:23

The insult itself is unrealted to the tories.

I was refering to the tories history of targetting single parent families as being the evils of society, and the married 2.4 children as being the desirable through tax etc

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 23/11/2011 23:24

Single parents work so hard. I hate to see them put down in anyway. They have my respect

bytheMoonlight · 23/11/2011 23:25

Oh well done Heleninahandcart! I get it now! I blame the wine for my slowness.

Everybody step down. Order resumed.

He is still a twat though.

And he is still unfollowed.
