Dear Designers at Gap,
Did you know your collection is crap?

Year after year,
Skulls everywhere,
Do you really lack creative flair?

Skulls with a kite
Skulls eating tripe
Skulls on a bike

Is it all doom and gloom?
Are you celebrating the retail boom?
With snowboarding Death

You honestly need to take a hike
with this line and give it a
... Proper wreath

Quint - not quite the colour, but the style?

Bright colours and comfortable clothes for boys: polarnopyret.co.uk

ViviPru · 22/11/2011 19:02

Jamie we're trialling a kids mix & match separates pyjama range in the Central Europe stores. If it goes well it'll be coming to UK.

Re pyjama length, this is my eternal bugbear. I have nothing to do with garment block & fit but everyone's always complaining to me about pyjama trouser length. Same with ladies too. There's nothing I can do about it - there's an agreed length thats considered to be the average for that size and that's that. Its a lot to do with margin - I mostly work for a value retailer and on such massive volumes, a few extra mm here and there makes a lot of difference in ££s

JamieComeHome · 22/11/2011 19:03

In my boys' case, if the top fits, the trousers are too big.

JamieComeHome · 22/11/2011 19:03

and even if both fit, the tops are a bit shorter than a day top would be

BNYBertie · 22/11/2011 19:05

Actually, if there was a skull eating tripe I would probably buy it just for the WTF factor...

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:05

Thanks Jamie! ds2 (6) had one, he has grown out of it, he is very sad. It was from Cubus in Norway. They have a great collection, but not online

OP sea creatures are only included in spring/summer collections.... not my decision - that's just the way it is.

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:06

I love poloarnopyret for boys. My son has a purple jumper with a colourful crocodile on!

Au contraire - sea creatures on Landsend!! (I do not work for Landsend). Not sure if that's what you had in mind

ViviPru · 22/11/2011 19:08

bearcrumble that site is gorgeous. We're moving toward that scandi/stripped-back look (which I love) but it has to be slowly slowly because anything too sophisticated will scare the core customer. Also, its tricky to get that kind of handwriting right for older boy.

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:09

I have posted a pic on my profile with my sons favourite t shirt. It is orange. Not a skull in sight!

Jamie are you on commission?! The Landsend styles are nice. If I designed sea creatures for an AW collection they would not be accepted.

Theres a rather cute crab pyjama set of mine due in store early SS12 that you should all keep your eyes peeled for ;)

ViviPru · 22/11/2011 19:13

alas, Q, that would be considered a political symbol at T Towers. I'd never get away with that as a main graphic element...

JamieComeHome · 22/11/2011 19:14

Vivi - have missed it - what store?

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:14

But the COLOUR. There are so many different Orange, that are either too sharp, or to dim, but this, it is just right. And all the cycling and skateboarding happy kids, if you look close up.

ViviPru · 22/11/2011 19:15

Its not in store till early spring summer twelve. I'm concerned if I mention the retailer this thread will get pulled...

JamieComeHome · 22/11/2011 19:16

I love orange, too, as does DS1

MelanieWiggles · 22/11/2011 19:17

Vivi - I buy most of my DSs clothes from Gymboree, in bulk because of the shipping cost. I reckon I have spent over $1,000 there this year. Main reasons are quality and fit, but the designs are lovely. They sometimes go a bit overboard with the slogans but there is generally a lot to choose from and the outfits coordinate so well.

These are really lovely - bright, age-appropriate and coordinate. Same for these.

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:20

I love those gymboree ones! (Aside from the fact that they recommend that you hit the slopes in jeans, fleece and a bubble vest!! Grin)

Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone. I will take all of your comments on board and pass them on.

Orange features massively in SS12 palettes and also AW12 that we've just started on so hopefully some of it will filter through to you.

QuintesentialShadows · 22/11/2011 19:24

Feel free to show them my poem! Wink
