Thumbwitch · 21/11/2011 11:57

Damn! xposted with ItWas - still, great minds think alike! Grin

ItWasABoojum · 21/11/2011 11:57

Great minds, Thumbwitch Grin

ItWasABoojum · 21/11/2011 11:57

And again! Bloody hell . . .

Deargdoom · 21/11/2011 12:00

Then there is the difference between "there", "their" and "they're," "lose" and "loose," "should of" instead of "should have" etc.........

ShowOfHands · 21/11/2011 12:12

Wondering/wandering and I've seen a strange quirk on here where posters when talking about pregnancies say 'on dd1' or 'on ds'. Why on?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/11/2011 12:17

Oh Blush.

I type "mom".

Showy, please could you pass me me coat?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/11/2011 12:18

Sigh.

ShowOfHands · 21/11/2011 12:19

Nope. Stay there. Mom is fine and reminds me of you. In a good way. If somebody types 'mom' I immediately look to see who it is and hope it's you. Therefore mom stays.

MardyBra · 21/11/2011 12:20

ViviPru. I seem to mistype 'best retards" instead of "best regards" a lot, which could potentially be embarrassing.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/11/2011 12:21

Aww.

You are kind, darling, lovely, sweetheartish, funny ect, ect.

Oh, "ect" is my pet hate (I hear it everywhere even from BBC and Sky presenters!)
Another one is "seperate"... bloody hell.

complexnumber · 21/11/2011 12:27

I hate alot a lot(thanks for the link, I enjoyed that).

However, I know I am guilty of writing eachother instead of each other, it just looks right to me. I suppose I am getting better with spell checkers red-lining me.

Firefly2 · 21/11/2011 12:27

My pet hate is when people misuse apostrophes! Makes my blood boil :)

tripleZ · 21/11/2011 12:33

'et cetera'

See that explains it to me - think I've been putting ect recently - though I am a bugger for picking up other peoples bad grammar and spelling. Honestly don't think anyone has explained where it come from to me before other than it being Latin which I have no working knowledge of.

I have started to wonder how many of the problems caused by my dyslexia could have been mitigated by sitting down and systematically teaching me grammar and phonics rather than expecting me to 'pick it up'. Honestly teaching phonics to my DC was a revelation to me.

See knew that was an issue so went an bought a book about how to do that properly.

I'm not stupid or I am and still managed a degree and masters from good universities. It's just my 1980 schooling somehow failed to teach me this stuff.

MrsGWay · 21/11/2011 12:45

YABU, it is ect as any fule kno

NinkyNonker · 21/11/2011 12:49

I have heard people say 'ecetera', which does sound odd.

tripleZ · 21/11/2011 12:54

I'm not great at hearing sounds in words - but thinking about it people round here do say 'ecetera' - and it doesn't sound 'odd'. We've been here a while so it probably not helping my confusion.

NinkyNonker · 21/11/2011 12:56

It just sounds wrong to me, probably cause it is.
