Who are Santa's presents from, him or us?

New argument with DP.

He just told me Hmm that Santa's pressies come from us and Santa just delivers them. I said, nooooo, that's so wrong in sooo many ways. Santa's pressies are all to do with him. DD sends him the begging letter and also the thank-you afterwards. We know nothing about anything until Christmas morning.

Anyway, I told him Grin that I had never heard of that before and I would put it to MN to find out let him know it's bollocks.

She'll be 2.6 at Christmas so it's her first one where she'll really get the build up and DP is also very excited about the glass of sherry and mince pie extravaganza that Santa will get. Again Hmm.

Thea Love the glittery star/snowflake idea. Might have to pinch that. Smile

Extended family gifts are under the tree and properly wrapped. They are opened on Christmas Eve after dinner. Parents do not provide any gifts.

The space under the tree is left for Santa to fill. These gifts are not wrapped and anything requiring setting up (dolls' house one year) is set up by me Santa no matter how long it takes or how inadequate my tools are to the task or how much grog it takes. Santa is the being to whom the Christmas letter is addressed and in whom the younger members of the family place their hope. Lists are encouraged from about mid-November on, and it is made clear that Santa will choose which two or three of the listed items will materialise on Christmas morning (more for younger than older family members).

The DCs have little stockings that serve as Christmas tree decorations until Christmas Eve, when they are taken and hung on the mantel for Santa to fill with chocolate.

We are down to only one believer in Santa at this point but her faith is an inspiration Smile. Nevertheless, the element of surprise on Christmas morning is a delight, as long as it's not expressed too loudly or too early...

Santa really loves sherry round here, MrsSchadenfreud Wink, but mountains of wrapping paper on Christmas morning are not her thing.
