re: end of the world

lol

thats all

we had all this on another forum about the hadron collider and some daft moo wouldnt send her kids to school "just in case the world ended"

if the world ends, none of us will know anything about it so no point in worrying

ditzymitzy2 · 17/11/2011 10:03

The Mayan Calendar does not end in 2012. It's a myth.

but oh so handy for whipping up the gullible eh

Thruaglassdarkly · 17/11/2011 10:04

For real? (rolls eyes)

mosschops30 · 17/11/2011 10:05

Im trying to decide whether its worth just smoking loads and maxing out my cards.

Although i dont relish the phonecall to mastercard in January 2013

Me: yes i know ive racked up £20k of debt but the world was supposed to end and it hasnt so i cant possibly pay it back
Mastercard: Hmm

cheeptrick · 17/11/2011 10:14

I'm not worried.

You can only die once and no one gets out alive.

We can't pridict the future but any major event can happen at any time, why worry about one date?

KeepInMindItsAlmostChristmas · 17/11/2011 10:26

It is all rubbish, just like all the crap about the year 2000 bug

SydSaid · 17/11/2011 12:43

Tha Mayan calendar ends sometime in 2012.

Mine ends on 31st December 2011.

The year before that it ended on 31st December 2010.

What is the point of worrying? If the world ends - well, you are most probably dead, so there is nothing left for you to worry about. And if it doesn't - well, then there is no problem.

Either way - why waste time contemplating what might happen based on some random speculation.

OrmIrian · 17/11/2011 12:45

Oh, is the world ending again? I didn't know.

OrmIrian · 17/11/2011 12:48

"just like all the crap about the year 2000 bug"

Ahem! May I just say that it wasn't all 'crap'. yes the media blew it up out of all proportion of course but there could well have been serious consequences. And the reason nothing dreadful happened was because millions of IT people spent most of 1999 and 1998 making sure it didn't! I used to get so cross when everyone said that it was a fuss about nothing because nothing much happened! BUT NOTHING HAPPENED BECAUSE WE FIXED IT!

Haven't read all of this yet, but the date in 2012 isn't the first date predicted as the end of the Mayan calendar. AFAIK, there were two dates previously (2003 and 2009 I think) but when they passed without incident, the dates were rejigged and out came 21:12:2012
So for all we know, the Mayan caledar has already come to an end, and we're all still here :)

scaryteacher · 17/11/2011 13:04

I'm dreading the thought of 2012 as ds takes his GCSEs and still hasn't got his arse into gear. Yes, ds, that's you, if you are lurking to see what I'm posting. Go and do your French oral corrections please.

LulaBear · 17/11/2011 13:38

If the world ends before I have my baby I will not be happy Angry

ragged · 17/11/2011 13:42

I thought this was about the annoying Olympics (failed to get tix for that).
But I wanted tickets for one of the London Prepares events & website is saying "Tickets Unavailable". Does that mean they sold out already (supposed to be on sale starting TODAY) or they haven't started selling at all? How do I find out?

WAAILLLLLL!!! Arrrggghhh...

I couldn't check any earlier today due to dentist appointment, DS bashing his head open & an Ebay buyer coming to get something, plus about 5 other errands I ran today.

Mayan calendar? who gives a Fig? I've got reality to deal with.

OriginalPoster · 17/11/2011 13:50

Ok, so who'd like

An end child poverty?
and end to global warming?
An end to the debt crisis?
An end to all wars?
No more terrorism?
No more massive rich poor divide?

Vote Mayan

For an end to all your troubles...
