If I have to hear one more time how having milk in my coffee makes me not a 'proper' coffee drinker I may strangle her Agghhh!!!!

Why oh why does she think this?
And how do I convince her she is wrong?

Please help me put a stop to this daft conversation forever!

I have a nespresso machine too. I totally love it. It's the best kitchen thing I have ever bought.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 10/11/2011 17:33

only one thing bugs me about coffee...

and that is...

Tell her to stop being so pretentious. Coffee in Asia and the middle east (you know, where it actually comes from) is often served strong, sweet and milky.

ViviPru · 10/11/2011 17:35

Ali it was worth cringing through making myself understood in the face of genuine bafflement of the girl in Starbucks every time I attempted to order it in my delightful regional accent (that even I struggle to understand when I hear played back to myself)

handbagCrab · 10/11/2011 17:35

Buy your friend some mellow birds for Xmas! :)

Trills · 10/11/2011 17:37

Authentic can fuck off.

I like things that are nice.

bytheMoonlight · 10/11/2011 18:07

I also love my Nespresso machine.

I have to say, I only ever drink coffee unadulterated though. Milk and sugar just spoils the taste. And as for all those flavoured sirops starbucks and the like offer...eugh. We seem as a nation to have lost the pleasure of bitter tastes and want to sweeten everything.

ouryve · 10/11/2011 18:16

Tell her there's more important things to get her knickers in a twist about than how you take your coffee.

TattyDevine · 10/11/2011 21:31

Dexter Grin

How many a day are you on? I'm up to 5.

Can someone lend me some big knickers? Confused

Nevertooearlyforcake · 10/11/2011 22:39

I wouldn't even notice this comment unless it came as part of a suite of irritating opinion. Anything else you'd like to share Grin

QuintessentialShadow · 10/11/2011 22:40

Milk in coffee is like adding sugar to red wine.

QuintessentialShadow · 10/11/2011 22:41

And drinking instant coffee is like drinking evaporated wine dust.

sabrinathemiddleagedwitch · 10/11/2011 22:44

We were allowed wine with lemonade with Sunday dinner when we were kids and I used to put a sugar cube in mine. Its a perfectly legitimate way of taking your wine.

purpleturtletoise · 10/11/2011 22:47

QS - you have it spot on.

If you are a child, yes, Sabrina! Grin

Trills · 10/11/2011 22:57

Red wine with lemonade is very nice if it's hot.

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/11/2011 23:20

YANBU! She thinks she' drinking coffee 'properly' and she drinks instant??? Div.

Sharney · 10/11/2011 23:26

Turkish saying: Coffee should be Black as night, sweet as love and strong as death. But I have it milky and no sugar.

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/11/2011 00:21

I lived in Italy for three years and will drink cappuccino any time I please. Expresso pisses me off though. And don't get me started on one panini, two paninis. Aaaaarrrrggghh.

Stupify64 · 11/11/2011 00:36

English saying; coffee should be Douwe Egberts, Douwe Egberts & Douwe Egberts because it's half-price at Morrisons.

Honeydragon · 11/11/2011 00:39

How does she drink tea?
Does she drink only red coke?
And real ale?

Yanbu .... She is a twit

Freeze dryed wine granules on the other hand sound awesome Grin

startail · 11/11/2011 00:42

Personally I think coffee should be black, freshly ground and made in a " one of those plungy glass things" ( it's late and I can't get my dyslexic brain round French spelling and auto correct keeps suggesting rubbish.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 11/11/2011 00:53

People who say coffee should only be black have never had a GOOD flat white, brewed somewhere Antipodean...

The hot beverage equivalent of drinking a perfectly poured pint of Guinness in Ireland - dark and rich and with a head so creamy you can stand a spoon in it. Grin

She is BU.
