I got the better long term deal... Sis was always the beautiful one when we were young.... She took after mum tho and has started to look real old real fast even tho she's 7 yrs younger I now look younger as I've looked pretty much the same for the past 15 yrs crap when I was 18 great now I'm in my 30's ... Get it from my dad who looks at least 20yrs younger than he is Grin

RosalindFranklinsNobelPrize · 06/11/2011 19:34

Is having a longer second toe freak? looks down at feet

RedHotPokers · 06/11/2011 19:36

Both DSis and I got small boobs from my mums side of the family (not that my Dad has big boobs Grin).

We both got my Dad's height (although I am a couple of inches taller and very long legged).

I got my Dad's looks (okay on a man Sad) and my DSis got my mums (elfin).

We are equally intelligent IMO, but then so are my mum and dad.

When I think of my DD (who has her fathers stockiness) and my DS (who has my long limbs) I can't help thinking they are going to wish they had the opposite when older Grin.

msbuggywinkle · 06/11/2011 19:43

Well, my sister got the beautiful auburn hair and green eyes, height and hourglass figure, but she also got the complex food allergies, pants immune system and infertility from my Mum's side.

I'm short, round and dark, but have great health and have easy pregnancies and births. She is cleverer than me, but also lazier and I find it much easier to make friends.

I was horribly envious of how gorgeous she is when we were growing up, but as it turns out I got the better end of the genetic deal.

TidyDancer · 06/11/2011 19:47

Heighwise, I got a perfect mix of my parents, since my dad is six foot, my mum is five foot and I am about 5'6"! I tend to lean more towards my dad with my build though, as I am naturally quite chunky and have to work at staying slimmer.

Lookswise, I'm the only one of my siblings who take after my mum's side of the family.

SootySweepandSue · 06/11/2011 19:48

I'm like my mum in every way except I have my dad's bad sense of humour. My DD is nothing like me but it's early days yet Smile.

Kladdkaka · 06/11/2011 19:53

I'm pretty sure I was adopted.

bouleverse · 06/11/2011 20:37

My parents were, and still are, even in their 70's, a very, very attractive couple. My DB and I are both just not nearly as good looking as them, to a similar degree, so at least we're equal. We have both said if we were told we were adopted we wouldn't question it. We are both healthy and intelligent though and grateful for that.

Still not bloody fair though.

MogTheForgetfulCat · 06/11/2011 20:45

Mine is carefully mixed:

From Mum: thick, dark hair; grey eyes (nicer than they sound), reasonable height - but also disappointingly sturdy ankles and a tendency to grumpiness.
From Dad: crappy, look-at-cake-and-gain-2lb metabolism; beaky nose; unattractive degree of competitiveness - but also good sense of humour/the ridiculous and general joie de vivre. Also, according to Dad, between me and DB, I got the cojones Grin.

This is not something my DSs will ever understand - they are all off DH's conveyor belt, at least in terms of looks. Typical.

ohgawdherewegoagain · 06/11/2011 21:09

Oh Eagle, I know that scenario. My (now late) sister was 5' 10", leggy and slim, lovely head of hair, very popular with the men (despite being a lesbian). I inherited my dad's beer belly, and his thin hair and I stopped growing at 5' 8" at the age of 11 and just grew rounder instead.......

eaglewings · 06/11/2011 21:14

I used to think I was adopted to when I was a kids as I was so different from my sister. Now people tell me I'm like my mum :(

My dad was equally generous with the blood disorder he gave to both me and my sister, ß thalesemia trait, very kind :)

I look like my mother, the others look more like my father's side of the family.

They were probably cuter in childhood but then being skinnier and tall meant my twenties / thirties got better.

SacreLao · 06/11/2011 21:22

I am still praying that I am adopted, would hate to turn out like either of my parents!

QuintessentialShadow · 06/11/2011 21:24

I got my mums daint features
my dads blonde hair and blue eyes
my mums curls
I was always hailed "the pretty one"

My sister got my mums mathematical brains
My dads reasoning skills
which she has put to very good use:
6 years civil engineering degree with emphasis on physics, has worked as a scientist, retrained and did a psychology degree with additional health and safety management.

Looks fade.
And she has got some health problems that means she has been out of work for the last 5 years.... Will never work again.

You could say, our inheritance was spent all too soon.

helendigestives · 06/11/2011 22:19

I got Dad's depression and curly hair, and Mum's buggered-up feet.

My sister got Dad's penchant for exercise and Mum's people skills. She's a skilled, hard-working professional and I'm a fat mentally ill student working part time in a supermarket.

But my hair is better. Grin

kickingking · 06/11/2011 22:33

We all got our mum's early greys and our dad's severe short sight. We are such an attractive set of siblings.

Pissed of that my parents gave my siblings better names than me though, I hate mine - what were they thinking of? Angry

SearchSquad · 06/11/2011 22:34

When I was a child, a dumb classmate asked me if I was adopted. My mother is a stunningly beautiful woman and I was quite an ugly duckling back then with braces and puppy fat .

I think I look quite nice now, but still nothing like my parents or any of my relatives. Where did I come from??? Confused

eaglewings · 06/11/2011 22:35

QS that's sad about your sister, I'm sure your looks havnt faded that quickly

Jenstar21 · 06/11/2011 22:39

We are all very like my father, looks wise. I crack up at him for my ability to gain weight in a second, and that I started going grey at 17. I also have my mother's terrible skin and a bit of a squint. I'm a cracker. :)

QuintessentialShadow · 06/11/2011 22:39

Well, I dont really care about the looks, I care more about being ambitious, but without the brains to really make something PROPER of myself.

sillybillies · 06/11/2011 22:55

my eldest brother always wished he got the skinny genes and we'd (me and other DB) got the overweight genes as 2 of us could eat anything and never put on weight and eldest DB only had to look at a cake (although he tended to eat them too!)

Funny thing is, he's got half his wish and now we're all a bit overweight.

Everything I say in this post can be backed up by Mum, Dad, Grandparents, Auntie and BIL - who agree with me wholeheartedly.

I am taller, slimmer, generally prettier and a happier person than my sister.
I managed to do very well with regard to intellect, social skills and the ability to not be a completely insensitive bitch.
I have better taste in music, clothes, jewellery... well, just better taste in general!
I have MUCH better teeth and marginally better eyesight (though I still need glasses - stylish ones of course!)
I'm great at sports, I keep fit, I have a rather good singing voice, I'm a performer at heart, I have the ability to dance and I'm a dab hand at sewing and knitting.

I could go on - the list really is endless.

My sister (who is younger by several years) managed to get buckteeth that her lips can barely cover, a fashion sense that makes her look like someone took a goth, shot them in the face with a makeup gun and then dressed them as a homeless person, a singing voice that makes her sound like she's murdering several kittens with a hammer and a neverending love for Evanescence and ONLY Evanescence. Seriously - that's all she'll listen to. Ever.

Just so everyone knows - I don't get on with my sister after she refused to visit my mother in hospital, then went behind her back to beg our other relatives (that she doesn't see because of another family dispute) for money for her 18th. She demanded £200 off my great-grandmother. Bitch.

kiwimumof2boys · 07/11/2011 01:03

My younger sister - height 5"6, slim figure
hair - blonde and straight
oval face (according to hairdresser she can suit any haircut/style)
Tanned skin
Me: 5"2 short legs
hair - brown and frizzy, wide face
Freckles
What i used to really HATE was when we were younger people used to always think she was older than me. Not a good thing you want to hear when you're 14 ! that your 12 year old sister looks older than you ! One thing I'm going to make sure I never do with my DS's (younger one will prob be taller than his older brother).

SparklyGothKat · 07/11/2011 01:30

Haha at lisad123 my sister.
