Love DH but I swear if he keeps blowing on EVERY single fork/spoon of food to cool it down I am going to have words! He even blew on ice cream earlier... Tell me AIBU and share your DHs annoying habits....

Oh, where to begin!?! My current bete noir is him taking off his t-shirt and jumper in one go and chucking it into the laundry basket for me to separate out later....grrrrrrr!

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 02/11/2011 20:54

Dh is a tidier-awayer. So I will open a cupboard or drawer and think oh I need this later, get it out, leave it where I know it is, go to get it later and dh will have put it away again.

He also ALWAYS changes the radio from R4 or R2 to R5 when he goes into the kitchen, even if its only for a minute and he knows I am going to be in the kitchen for the next hour.

Omits to replace toilet roll.

Snores very loudly.

Makes quite a lot of noise when eating an apple.

Comes into the bathroom and asks me questions when I am trying to have a nice peaceful shower.

Asks me questions when I am brushing my teeth.

Arranges nights out/weekends away for us without telling me but swearing that we have discussed it.

Never fills up the ice cube trays.

Crams the dishwasher full of dirty crockery but doesn't do the final 2% of the job and chuck in the diswasher tablet and press start.

Always has to have "pudding" every single day, even if it is just a banana or yogurt. He can't leave his dinner at one course.

MenopausalHaze · 02/11/2011 20:55

Mine rolls up black socks in white boxers and lobs them in the laundry basket - and despite this having happened daily for 20+ years somehow, somehow there's always a fucking black sock in the white wash.

MamaLazarou · 02/11/2011 20:57

He says 'then' instead of 'than'. GRRRR! He also gets the words to songs wrong and gets really offended if I correct him.

25kilopumpkin · 02/11/2011 21:00

Tidy away v annoying! Mine tidies away stuff when I'm in middle of using it especially when he's on phone, and makes a big dramatic pained swallow when he takes a tiny tablet like an aspirin or a vitamin! -feel guilty now-

Watches fucking football

Cooks me dinner every night because he works from home

Does all the laundry as above

Oops, shit, wrong thread Blush

Unplugging the tv/sky box from the mains whenever it's not in use (awakward spot to reach and takes ages to come on when you want it back on).
Picking his feet.
Leaves front door open when going to car/popping to shop, allowing dog to escape and chase neighbourhood cats.
Puts dirty work boots on in kitchen when floor has just been cleaned.
Sleeps/dribbles/sweats on my side of the bed when I'm not in it.
Snores/hogs bed.

MrBloomsNursery · 02/11/2011 21:05

His SNORING Angry ughhhh....

The endless amount of body sprays he goes through, and every morning listening to him spray about four 10 second bursts of body spray..Ugh I hate that "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" sound!

Never telling me when he's taken a day off work and announces it over breakfast with a big grin on his face. This would be nice if we didn't have a DD. I like to plan things in advance...but still he carries on doing it Angry.

Asks me EVERY SINGLE DAY: "Where are my boxers?"...How long will it take for him to learn they're in the drawers?

He passed on his facial features onto our DD, so she looks JUST like him :( 9 months of hard work, and my DD doesn't even look like me :(

LilPud · 02/11/2011 21:07

Well, where to start (he is lovely really)

Putting spoons in the sink - there is a dishwasher!!
Filling bowls with water and leaving them by the sink so that as I pick them up to load the dishwasher I spill the damn water.
Opening new packs before finishing the old one
Putting tiny amounts of things back in the fridge/cupboard - he once put back TWO mushrooms
Leaves the l/room door open everytime he goes through it
Puts recycleable stuff in the bin and leave un-recycleable stuff on the work top
Not matching up his socks so that I end up with about 10 odds floating about wondering what the hell went wrong! Men.

Smuddy81 · 02/11/2011 21:07

Masticates (careful..) too loudly
The tidying thing...
Asks me what he should do with DS and then ignores (could be the most basic thing like what he should wear)
Fluffs the pillows even when I've just done them (cos it wont be good enough)
I'll stop now before I get carried away!
(He is yummy though!)

ginmakesitallok · 02/11/2011 21:12

Never putting his dirty dishes in dishwasher, never emptying the bin, thinking that if I'm in a bad mood the way to get me out of it is to grope me.... I do love him though

MrsMoosickle · 02/11/2011 21:13

Says ' what did you say?' every time I ask him a question, despite the fact he has heard me fine.

Will step over laundry on the stairs rather than just take it upstairs

Squeaks his knife on his plate when he cuts food

Never straightens out the fitted sheet when attempting to make the bed, so it's all wrinkly when I next get in.

Debonds my phone on Bluetooth in my car to pair his own - every time and never puts settings back. Does my head in!

25kilopumpkin · 02/11/2011 21:15

Also if I am not SPECIFIC about clothing for DC dresses them in weirdest colour combinations and has often sent them into nursery/preschool in PJs!! Bless him Smile

bushymcbush · 02/11/2011 21:16

Says "I'm just talking out loud," instead of "thinking out loud."

Leaves the wet bath mat on the bathroom floor after his shower every single day and completely denies he EVER does this.

Insists on explaining every detail of F1 racing to me despite knowing full well that I find it utterly mind numbingly boring.

Spends a significant proportion of every single day searching for second hand cars on the Internet, discusses his findings with me at length, then does fuck all about it, actually only changing his car every 4-5 years. Seriously.

Leaves all his shoes in the lounge, which then get tidied up to the bottom stairs, which can accumulate 5 or even more pairs of his shoes before I insist on him taking them all upstairs again. In fact, they are usually just in an untidy heap in the tiny tiny hallway until I put them in pairs on successive stairs.

And many many more. I will be back.

Foundmymojo · 02/11/2011 21:21

He has a CD which he can only play in my car (mp3 or something), so everytime we go out in mine I have to listen to his ska/reggae music, with him changing the song every 5 seconds whilst continually fighting over volume.

Tells me the same stories/anecdotes again and again over the years.

Another one here for weird clothing combinations on dd - he is colour blind though!

Asks me my opinion on something, then just does the complete opposite anyway.

Gingefringe · 02/11/2011 21:28

Puts CDs/DVDs in wrong cases
Cuts his toenails in the living room
Puts empty boxes back in the cupboard
Drinks milk/orange juice out of the carton
Leaves socks and pants in the bed
Hogs the remote control and surfs through all the TV channels during commercial breaks
Eats the kids school lunch sandwich fillings as a 'snack' then nothing left for the morning
Leaves dirty mugs and plates in the living room
Doesn't check his wellies for dog poo/mud after he's been in the garden and stomps into the living room in them
Grrr..... the list goes on - I've just realised what a selfish sod he can be!

25kilopumpkin · 02/11/2011 21:31

alters settings in my car - radio, mirrors, seat height, steering wheel angle, cds moved, child seat straps altered to the point I cannot change them back and have to do school run with kids "holding on" as desperate safety measure (this has happened twice and its because I do NOT have the finger strength to alter them fucking straps once he has fiddled with them)

OP posts:
luckyrocketshipunderpants · 02/11/2011 21:32

Leaves used tea bag next to bin, as if it will magically find its way in.

Complains about food being out of date in fridge but never meal plans, shops or cooks.

Buys endless crap for his falling-to-bit van.

Leaves lights on all over the flat.

Demands my undivided attention just as I am reaching juicy/riveting bit of my chapter.

Love him really, he's still fab.

msbuggywinkle · 02/11/2011 21:35

He pulls at his beard when he's thinking. It makes me feel a bit ill. I like the beard though, he looks about 15 without it.

Instead of rubbing his eyes when tired, (you know, like a normal person) he pokes himself in the eyes repeatedly.

25kilopumpkin · 02/11/2011 21:37

Will not answer ANY question at all if he is on the toilet so,

"Hey DH, have you seen DD's hat?"

"I'M ON THE TOILET..."

"Yeah but is it upstairs do you think..."

interrupts "I. AM. ON. THE. TOILET!"

"...just yes or no, is it on the...."

"I! AM! ON! THE! FUCKING! TOILET!"

OP posts:
bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 02/11/2011 21:41

Jeez, I sympathise with your dh there. It drives me beserk that everyone in my family thinks I am available to answer ALL questions at ALL times.

25kilopumpkin · 02/11/2011 21:43

but but but I am only asking for a yes or no usually, he just WONT answer me! -i do realise this is unreasonable but cannot remember the last time i had a shit in peace-

OP posts:
startail · 02/11/2011 21:47

The fact that I am about to have to go and remind him to have a shower and he'll moan.

whackamole · 02/11/2011 21:51

WILL NOT empty the sink trap after washing up.

Oh, and refuses to use the bowl and then doesn't clean the sink afterwards.

Changes the loo roll....but leaves the empty one on the floor in the bathroom. There is a bloody bin in the FFS just put it in there!

ALWAYS replies that we have 'run out' of if he can't be arsed looking. An example would be DSS asking for a new bar of soap, OH insisting we have run out. No dear, the soap is in the effing bathroom cabinet, which you open every day. No, it is not hiding. Get off your lazy arse and give your son some soap!

Has a tendency to really labour the point when telling off DSs. We have 4. This quickly becomes tiresome (although in all fairness the littlest is only 12 days old so hasn't been naughty yet!).

In general he is great but so clueless. No common sense - evidenced by him telling the HV that some kids 'just need a good crack round the head' to stop them acting up!!
