so often you see two posts by the same miner back to back, as their ipad has misguessed a word they were typing.

So i am wondering where the thread would go if no corrections were made.

Of course when you want the ridiculous words to come up they don't

It's a bit random with its apostrophes in "it's" though - it put one in the second and fourth ones in this post, but not with the first and third.

My biggest problem really is that I'm so used to the double space = full stop + capital letter that I keep trying to do it on my laptop at work.

I do the c,v,b,n thing frequently, and often hit y instead of t. Wish you could put the cursor thingy to the middle of a word instead of only the end, I've had to delete great swathes of crap wisdom because I've missed the space bar!

I tend to hit the m or then button rather than the space bar. Drives me insane. Sent from my ipad

See, it is true that iPad doesn't autocorrect if you press post message straight after.

You can put the cursor in the middle of a word - just touch & hold until the magnifying glass appears and then you can drag it anywhere.

I'm also mildly irate that I get the blue overlay with the option to copy when I don't want it, but can't seem to do it when I do want it, iyswim.

Yes, the copy thing is odd - if I try to select words in a post to copy I just get a grey highlight and no copy option. But if I touch in another area of the page, such as next to the Add a Message box, I get the blue Copy highlight and the copy option Sometimes the whole page is highlighted - but you can drag the handles on the edges of the highlighted area and move it to the bit you want to copy.

Have just been experimenting, and if you touch next to the message box you get the whole page highlighted and it's a real pain to resize and move the highlighted area. But if you touch just next to the blue section at the bottom that says:

You get a smaller highlighted area that's easier to manipulate. But I don't think you can do it while you've got the keyboard showing.

Yes, if you turn off bookmarks, you don't get the grey highlight, just the blue adjustable one.

I think some Apple developers are having a laugh. I mean, boring old MS products tend to make correct corrections but apart from this thread, today on MN I've noted 'jellyfish hounds' (hell hounds) and aubergines mutating into 'subscribe' - WTF? on the basis of -au---- ?

Ok, it took four goes to for it to stop trying to change aubergine, one more for it to offer it as an option aubergine and another two to stop automatically capitalising it.

Presumably it doesn't originally recognise aubergine because in the US it's eggplant.

It never tried to turn it into subscribe, though, and I suspect that that one was because the poster accidentally started with s instead of a.

However, I just looked back at that last sentence and discovered 'that one' had been turned into 'iPhone' It didn't do it that time, so god knows what I typed the first time.

Oh, and it just took out the random b I'd put instead of the space in 'first time', so it does learn eventually. I've had it nearly 18 months....
