... "my lubby hubby"... is a bit bleurgh?

Just had lunch at a friend's house where I met a woman who introduced her husband in this way (in a simpering voice, of course.)

I mean, really?

YANBU!

Sparkles23 · 30/10/2011 17:55

I only know people who are likely to say ... "come in, the glasses are on the side, the wine is in the fridge, and twatface is somewhere in the house"

Grin
BitchyHen · 30/10/2011 17:56

Yuck! YADefinitelyNBU!

Uglymush · 30/10/2011 17:56

[vomit] x lots!

Phwooooar · 30/10/2011 17:58

Squeakyfreakytoy - you must know me then! Only I add that crisps are on the other side...

GrownUpZombieKiller · 30/10/2011 17:59

I'd do that if I was trying to embarrass him and make him feel like a twat. So yeah, probably... haha.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 30/10/2011 18:02

YANBU... but, if it's any consolation, in many years of corporate travel and events I find it's the 'lubby hubbies' and 'ickle pickles' etc., that are the dirtiest bastards on tour. Wink

DaisySteiner · 30/10/2011 18:04

YANBU. A FB acquaintance friend described her dh as 'the hubster' in a status update. I was sick in my mouth.

I also find the phrase 'good lady' for wife induces me to apoplexy Angry

I usually introduce my husband, as my first husband. I like to keep him on his toes! Grin

troisgarcons · 30/10/2011 18:07

Does it work in their relationship? are they happy? and does it impact on your life?

Personally I don't do the whole 'Derek and Mavis' thing but it suits others.

I have one woman at work (divorced and eternally seeking) who keeps refering to anyones husband as 'your lover-man' Hmm but hey, it makes her happy. Confused

ChippingInAutumnLover · 30/10/2011 18:10

Oh FGS it's getting so you can't fucking breathe around here without someone complaining about it and putting someone else down.

Get a fucking grip.

Does it really matter how someone else refers to their husband? Really?

ZillionChocolate · 30/10/2011 18:25

AIBU is all about whinging about other people isn't it?

I don't even like "other half" on the basis that I'm a whole person.

woollyideas · 30/10/2011 18:25

Thanks for your contribution ChippingIn. How you address your lubbyhubby at home is up to you, but to introduce him like this in public? Bit demeaning, I would have thought.

I stand by finding it utterly bleurgh...

pmsl @ ms angry pants up there Grin

YANBU it's simpering and vomit inducing - silly bint

Oakmaiden · 30/10/2011 18:30

I remember having a major strop when I had been married for about 6 months and went to a "do" where a mutual friend introduced us to somebody as "this is A..., and this is his wife, Oakmaiden..."

Really naffed me off that 6 months prior I would just have been "Me" and now I was relegated to a "Man's possession". My husband and friend (also a bloke) thought I was really strange, but it still rankles a bit....

ScarahStratton · 30/10/2011 18:32

Mum and Dad's creepy neighbour (yes that creepy neighbour) calls his wife 'my little lady'.

scottishmummy · 30/10/2011 18:32

if its special to her and has significance in a ohhhh there's a story to it,she probably thinks it's quirky - when it is in fact ghastly term

squeakyfreakytoy · 30/10/2011 18:33

my husband has my name programmed into his phone as "my darling gorgeous wifey". Grin

I put it in there, and he is too lazy to change it...

HeresTheScaryThingBooyhoo · 30/10/2011 18:33
