lol Witch its semi permanent eyelash extensions, result is I dont need to wear mascara, which was irritating my eyes. Im not sure you could knit them, but perhaps blackwork?

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 30/10/2011 20:32

Well if Liz doesnt like her Kirsty is my new best friend.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 30/10/2011 20:43

Thanks Rhonda i'll get the coal out. Mrsd NO WAY, they are both awful.

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 30/10/2011 20:58

Kirsty is merely annoying in a chirpy, I live on another planet but have no idea, sort of way.

Liz is just , well I dont have the words to describe Liz....

ThePathanKhansWitch · 30/10/2011 21:03

I always thought that about Kirsty, bit sugar coated la la land, UNTIL i found out she got that cottage fixer upper, fixed up on C4 budget and THEN sold it for a massive profit.

Total avarice when so many people struggling to keep a roof over their heads.

She is too sweet to be wholesome.

But do agree about Liz, so rank she defies description.

madmomma · 30/10/2011 21:13

Oh God I want to inject that woman with something to make her go quiet. Not forever; just until I can get away.

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 30/10/2011 21:16

I am very Hmm about the amount of slebs getting their houses done up on the cheap and going on lovely exotic holidays (yes I mean YOU Mr McGregor).

Whats going on with the restoration 'nightmare' of Ms Beeny. Is she fronting the cash for that?

kellestar · 30/10/2011 21:21

I felt a little sorry for her, she was so out of her depth at RWAS, the standards are really high and she did decopatch instead of decopage, free machinery embroidery instead of handsewn embroidery/cross stitch. I just thought it wasn't very fair.

However the brand that is Kirstie gets on my wick, it's everywhere it's really just pointless tat as well.

I think they don't give enough showcase of what each craft is about, the yarny ones don't seem to get as much time as ones that are sewing or paper based. Crochet was a box... there are so many different crochet techniques and she makes a box... oh well.

Kirstie needs to head back to the property programme that DH watches... he feels a bit girly ogling Kirstie on a home made home type programme.

GetOrfMo1Land · 30/10/2011 21:24

rhonda I have a big red kitchenaid because of Nigella. One of the most ridiculous purchases ever made. It is on my kitchen shelf looking pretty and gathering dust, I NEVER use it (I never bake).

I lied to DP about how much it cost me (not because of any daft stuff about money, I used the money out of my own account and we do what we want with our money) because if he found out that I spent £400 on a mixer because it looked nice he would think I was certifiable.

I don't approve of Kirstie because she spells her name the wrong way (my name is Kirsty, I spell it right)

Mardymwahhaha · 31/10/2011 08:55

rhondajean "I normally like Liz Jones." Have you no credibility woman?!

If Liz Jones doesn't like Kirstie, then maybe I could like her after all...

ScarahStratton · 31/10/2011 11:03

What is there to like about Liz Jones? [hhmm]

midnightexpress · 31/10/2011 11:09

'I normally like Liz Jones'

read read woah.....Hold up there.

Say WHAT??????

SoupDragon · 31/10/2011 11:12

Liz Jones is appears to be a fugly evil old witch.

Kirstie is harmless.

and if you prefer clean lines and no crafts, you have to wonder why on earth you're watching Kirstiey's home made Britain :o

ScarahStratton · 31/10/2011 11:14

midnight are you suffering virtual whiplash too? Grin

Bugsy2 · 31/10/2011 11:30

I grew up in the country in the south of England & spent my childhood going to village fetes & country fairs, where people flogged you unspeakable bits of homemade tat in the name of craft. I used to be the sucker that bought the ugly looking homemade toys because I felt sorry for them.
The stuff that Kirstie does drives me nuts. It is dressed up as oh look anyone can blow a glass bauble at Christmas & then you have a "cheap" & unique gift, or anyone can design their own aromatherapy bubble bath in very dinky gift bottles - but you can't!!!!! You either need to have very well connected crafty type friends - or you need to fork out on vast amounts of craft kit. The whole concept is bunkum.
If I was a serious "crafty" person, I would be deeply insulted, because Kirstie seems to achieve in one programme what they have spent years trying to build up expertise in (although who would years of experience in making daffodils out of gelatine is a question I don't need answering).
However, ranting aside - I feel compelled to watch the programme each week - just because it irritates me so much, which probably makes me the sucker & Kirstie is raking it in. [hhmm]

LaPruneDeMaTante · 31/10/2011 11:35

Another one with virtual whiplash here Grin

I watched the first series with my then 5 yr old and we did several of the crafts - he LOVED it. If it's aimed at adults, it's rather....well, made by people who don't routinely do crafts Grin

I really liked that Monty Don series where three people got to really train in eg blacksmithing or weaving. That was far better done, properly informative, genuinely warm. It didn't get recommissioned and he hasn't marketed a range of goods off the back of it. Hmm

jenniec79 · 31/10/2011 11:56

I like it.

It's a bit fluffy, but I like the inspiration aspect of it - I'm not a papercraft person, but it's always nice to see the ideas (and those birds would make nice Christmas decs if you did the decoupage to look robin-ish)

I've got nicer jam recipes, but I may well have a go at machine embroidery at some point. OK she wasn't at the level of the other embroidered cards with hers, but it was a different basic idea too, and I wonder if she'd really just got the wrong end of the stick? I would love more craft programmes on telly, and more instruction, maybe like cookery shows do, but it's such a broad category and people don't tend to bake and sew and embroider and knit and crochet and do papercrafts - and all think they could make a better programme!

Mardymwahhaha · 31/10/2011 12:05

Sorry, just realised my last post was ambiguous. What I meant to say was that if LJ doesn't like Kirstie, maybe I could take to Kirstie and her homemade tat after all. (Not LJ!)

OP posts:
PinotScreechio · 31/10/2011 12:07

I cant help but like Kirstie as she's plump and posh (like/like) but the crafts are heinous.

ProfYaffle · 31/10/2011 12:15

I can't decide if I like this programme or not. I get annoyed that she nicks other people's ideas to pass off as her own. It also ignores the fact that you need a modicum of innate talent to make the crafty things look any good. It's like saying "all you need is some paints and a brush and you too can knock out a Monet or four!"

HestonMoomintroll · 31/10/2011 12:37

I like Kirsty herself. I've got a bit of a crush on her, she's so British and head-girl like and capable. I also have a slight crush on Nigella, who my husband describes as 'dead behind the eyes' and refuses to watch.

The Kirsty programme is bloody terrible though.
