I heard on mn a while ago that if you are poor you get a free goat, where is mine?

schroeder · 27/10/2011 22:31

Yes please a giraffe, then it could eat my neighbours trees that block out all the light. [hgrin]

onepieceofcremeegg · 27/10/2011 22:31

nailak was its name Cyril (the squirrel?) most of the ones round here have that name. Grin

onepieceofcremeegg · 27/10/2011 22:32

schroeder join the queue, others were before you on the list re a giraffe. Wink

squeakyfreakytoy · 27/10/2011 22:32

If you have leaves coming out of your chimney, a giraffe would be great.. have you seen the frigging size of them!!! Grin

onepieceofcremeegg · 27/10/2011 22:33

that's such an obvious advantage squeaky, no need to state the obvious Grin

TeWihara · 27/10/2011 22:33

Giraffe's could clear your drains too!

onepieceofcremeegg · 27/10/2011 22:35

When I get my giraffe I am going to get him to lick the upper windows (loft conversion) that the window cleaner can't reach! His nose (the window cleaner's) will be well out of joint once he sees his replacement.

GoodAndBluts · 27/10/2011 22:36

Giraffes would be good for people in high rise flats.

BalloonTwister · 27/10/2011 22:38

I used to have a Billy goat called Gruff. Not very original but I was only 8! I used to walk him round the village on a lead. They don't go in for eating grass much, but mine was very fond of flowers, washing and the odd cigarette butt! Probably better to get a nanny goat, as Gruff got very aggressive eventually, and tried to mount my Mum every time she put the dinner washing on the line.

Sevenfoldedbloodybodies · 27/10/2011 22:38

would be handy if you could get elephants, they could be good for transport(not wheelchair or buggy friendly though) and a handy shower if needed, and you could take them shopping as they never forget

OP posts:
DogsBeastFiend · 27/10/2011 22:39

An elephant? Could sit on irritating mothers in law and give the poo-moaners something to really complain about?

Gorilla? Sit him in an armchair, no-one will notice that the farting, arm-pit scratching creature staring at the TV isn't DH.

Or how about a nice Tapir? Quiet, affectionate, choice of two colours?

TeWihara · 27/10/2011 22:39

Now you're just being entitled Seven.

It's a goat or a giraffe and that's your lot.

Sevenfoldedbloodybodies · 27/10/2011 22:39

BalloonTwister why did your mum put the dinner on the line?

OP posts:
TuftyFinch · 27/10/2011 22:42

Can goats live on their own? Do they need 'company' like donkeys? How much land do they need?

Sorry for being a bit boring- I do actually want to know. Would chickens be better suited with smallish children? Both?

Sevenfoldedbloodybodies · 27/10/2011 22:43

now I want a donkey

OP posts:
TuftyFinch · 27/10/2011 22:45

Seven you've got to have 2 so they don't get ever so lonely.

SkinnedAlive · 27/10/2011 22:46

I want a geep

DogsBeastFiend · 27/10/2011 22:51

I can't believe that no-one's gone for my idea of a Tapir!

Have you seen how cute the babies are?

Hungrydragon · 27/10/2011 22:51

Skinned you mean those freaky sci fi spliced things? Not good what if they fall apart?

Hungrydragon · 27/10/2011 22:52
musicposy · 27/10/2011 22:53

I want a goat! Once it's eaten our lawn, though (will take it about an hour as our lawn is small), I'm not sure what I will do with it.

I can't eat it as daughter is veggie and would hate me forever. I guess I could milk it, but it would have to produce baby goats for that first, and they might end up in rescue and I would be hated and shunned forever from the new mumsnet topic goathouse.

I could make its hair into jumpers but we have a sheltie I could do that with and I've never bothered to do so yet.

If someone could find me a small goat that lays eggs, that would be ideal.

musicposy · 27/10/2011 22:56

Tapir looks cute! Does it eat grass? Produce hair for jumpers? Lay eggs?

LadyEvilEyes · 27/10/2011 22:58

Everybody on benefits is entitled to a free goat. Fact.
Also our immigrant population.
But everyone that wants more than a goat are being a bit entitled IMO.
Be happy with what you're offered.
Jeez the Entitlement of some people.

TuftyFinch · 27/10/2011 22:58

Musiconce it's eaten your lawn can I have it?Then when your grass grows I can give him back for an hour or so? But,until someone answers my question about whether goats need a partner I can't proceed with this arrangement.

DBF I do like your idea of a tapir. I just don't want one.

Hungrydragon · 27/10/2011 22:59

Musicposy.....I think you may be looking for a duck billed Platypus it kind of fits your criteria apart from the fact it's poisonous
