we live in a block of flats.

saw my neighbours leaving a tv and and armchair on the corner by the flats, and called down "what number do you live at, which flat has that come from?"
they said "44, we are going to phone rubbish collection"

just been down to put the rubbish out, and the tv and armchair are pretty much monopolising the bin.

i dont know what number they live at.

should i just wind my neck in or is this war??

so, they got caught dumping it on the street,
and have now binned it basically.

You need to give more information regarding the bins system here. It may be all very obvious to you but to the naked eye this AIBU is baffling.

HeidiKat · 27/10/2011 16:11

i dont know what number they live at.

But they told you the answer to this, 44 [hconfused].

afishcalledmummy · 27/10/2011 16:14

Why not phone your local council and arrange for it to be collected? People do this occasionally with our communal bins so I call and have it collected - it takes precisely 2 minutes of my time to solve.

Sonnet · 27/10/2011 16:14

They live at number 44
HTH

worraliberty · 27/10/2011 16:15

Oh I know this one!

They live at number 44? Grin

YANBU though. You shouldn't put rubbish out until the day of collection when you've already established the day with the council.

AbsolutelyBloodySpiffing · 27/10/2011 16:15

After you get done winding your neck in you could re-read your OP which tells you quite clearly what number they live at!

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 27/10/2011 16:15

What sonnet said

ViviPru · 27/10/2011 16:17

Confused X a lot

lowercase · 27/10/2011 16:19

heidi,
they also told me they were going to phone rubbish collection then promptly threw the stuff in the bins.
im not sure their word is their bond.

OP posts:
MrBloomsNursery · 27/10/2011 16:20

Hahhaha....Don't want to state the obvious, but they live at number 44!!! Maybe rubbish collection is taking too long to come? Wind your neck in at least for 1 day.

Icelollycraving · 27/10/2011 16:21

Er try knocking on number 44?! :o
It is crap when this happens. We are the only owner occupiers in our block of 16. Each time renters change they leave assorted shit which then gets removed by the property maintenance who add it to our charges. It really fucks me off & I am now busybody neighbour.

AbsolutelyBloodySpiffing · 27/10/2011 16:21

You're not sure their word is their bond? No shit Sherlock!

worraliberty · 27/10/2011 16:22

Yes try knocking at number 44

And if you get no joy there....

Try knocking at number 44 just incase you wrote the number down back to front Grin

lowercase · 27/10/2011 16:24

they are not waiting for rubbish collection.
a tv and an armchair are now in our dustbin.

OP posts:
AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 27/10/2011 16:25

I dont even understand what you are asking.

OldGreyWassailTest · 27/10/2011 16:25

No, no, no all you amateur sleuths. She asked "what number do you live at, and what flat has that come from" !! Tut, tut - surely the answer 44 refers to the 2nd part of the question??

Jux · 27/10/2011 16:27

Did they steal it from 44 or do they live at 44? They've told you a flat number, go and check it out.

ThePumpkinKing · 27/10/2011 16:28

If I were waiting for the rubbish collection people to collect rubbish, I'd leave the rubbish by the bin. Where else would you leave it?

And if some random curtain twitcher had called me on it, I might just leave the rubbish by their bin, but I'm childish like that.

MrBloomsNursery · 27/10/2011 16:29

Maybe you could check down the sides of the armchair and retrieve some lost money whilst you wait for rubbish collection?

LineRunnerWitchyMother · 27/10/2011 16:30

That's flytipping and you could report it, as obviously a TV and armchair won't get taken away by the binmen. You could indicate that the flytippers are local residents who may or may not live at the now legendary number 44.

BoscoWillHauntYourDreams · 27/10/2011 16:35

I ROFL'ed a little there worra

lowercase · 27/10/2011 16:37

EllaDee · 27/10/2011 19:32

I don't quite get why there is a problem? People round here will leave stuff (like an old TV or an armchair, yes) out by the bins in case someone else wants it, seldom with a note on to say so but everyone knows that's the idea. It's virtually always snapped up by someone and if not, the owner will just call the council. If it's just by the bins, is there a problem with it being there for a few days until they get collection sorted?

Or are you saying it's in the bins and filling them up? If that's what it is, yes, that is pretty rude and you should go knock on the door and say you can't fit your rubbish in and do they know when the council will come collect?

Jux · 27/10/2011 19:34

Put your rubbish in their bins instead.
