giving me a CN for 5 rolls of wallpaper (40 quidish) and having lost proof of purchase. Have they changed their policy as have not had problem before.? WHat use is it - we overpurchased to be on the safe side, got 30 rolls for our three storey staircase.

Yes, Sdtgtgdgs sorry I can't ever get it right Smile of course she should have kept it. But things do get lost. And it wasn't a surprise to her that she would be returning stuff but then again, it shouldn't have been a surprise to B&Q either as it was their idea.

PigletJohn · 28/10/2011 11:36

hey, Jane. I bought this stuff at Bloggins closing down sale at half price. And I have some more that my buddy who works in the factory stole from a van. Any reason why I shouldn't take it all back to B&Q and get them to give me full-price cash for it?

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 11:38
Hmm
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/10/2011 11:47

Yes, Jane, things do get lost, but if you know you are going to have to return something, put the receipt in a safe place.

And I never said you can't ever get it right - that is such a classic passive-aggressive response.

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 11:52

No I meant your name. I try to type a response and because the thread is upside down, I can't remember which way your initials go!

Sorry, not being PA.

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 11:53

My fault for not being clear. And I should try to remember your name properly. It keeps me awake at night sometimes.

What does it stand for? That might help.

SardineQueen · 28/10/2011 11:54

I think that is poor customer service, and they should offer you an exchange. i am quite surprised that they won't, and it must be doubly annoying for you given that they were the ones who told you to overbuy in the first place.

Could you dig out a bank statement and try a different branch if there is one nearby / go to manager as others have suggested?

SardineQueen · 28/10/2011 11:57

Oh as for keeping things in a safe place - we have been having a big extension which has necessitated emptying the contents of the entire ground floor into one room and then living in it with two children. I am normally hyper-organised, but I have absolutely no clue where anything is any more and it's doing my head in

I think they should exercise their option to exchange given the circs, I really do. I have worked in lots of different shops and if something is undamaged/unused and resellable then it's usual to give customer the benefit of the doubt.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/10/2011 12:01

I'm sorry for leaping to a conclusion, Jane. The initials stand for StayingDavidTennantsGirl (to show my allegiance to the previous Dr Who, when Matt Smith started [needs a life emoticon]).

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 12:04

Oh God no it was me being lazy with my sentences Smile

Thankyou - I knew it was a Tennant reference but could only think of the other DT person on here, and the initials didn't work for that...thanks! (goes back to bed to catch up on missed sleep)

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 12:04

can't bear Matty smith either fwiw.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/10/2011 12:09

Was I not the only one who couldn't sleep last night, then Jane? Insomnia sucks - and I can't go back to bed because my friend is coming soon to collect her dog (we dog sat whilst she moved house), and my MIL is coming tomorrow, so I ought to at least try to hoover up some of the dog hair before she arrives. Bah humbug.

melika · 28/10/2011 12:12

IMHO B&Q have always been great to me!

YABU, you will probably need to use it anyway.

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 12:12

Oh gosh, dog hair

I wasn't wakeful ONLY about your initials Wink though they have been bothering me lately. I was too cold as ds2 wet the bed the night before, so no duvet. But we had an inspection today (letting agents) and had to tidy as well, so I feel your pain...good luck!

JaneBirkin · 28/10/2011 12:14

Melika, now there's an idea....OP - you need to use it to paper another room. Or posisbly your shed.

[hgrin]

I think someone already suggested ebay, that's not a bad idea if it's a current range.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/10/2011 12:17

I was going to suggest ebay too - and it would have the benefit of getting some cash for the OP, that she can spend anywhere, rather than a credit note so she has to go back to B&Q.
