To think if cars don't allow enough room for my bike, I have no choice but to go onto the pavement?

I cycle to work everyday but increasingly I've found that cars are so close to the pavement that I couldn't fit my bike inbetween. What am I supposed to do? I live in a city in which there are loads of bikes so locals should be used to cyclists. Unless it is tourists but still.

His point was to illustrate the obstacles (literally) in the path of cyclists trying to obey the law (or maybe the police officer made up the infraction and there actually wasn't a law).

Bravo that man! As he says, 'book' the people who are causing the obstructions? Ah no. They are drivers. I seeeeee!!

That is brilliant and so true!
In the UK we could add in the pot holes and drains we are expected to cycle safely over and some of the lanes that just abruptly stop!!

I am curious am I the only cyclist on here that's out in the sticks? Cycle paths and bus lanes are not an option. Perhaps my having to occasionally mount the pavement in town is more accepted as we all have to co exist on the road at points where there is no pavement so are mostly only at the mercy of some people who cannot and should not drive a car.

Math - that youtube clip is a classic! Saw it earlier this year. But NYC is crazy - I've never seen anyone here stroll in a cycle lane, park in a cycle lane (well, maybe if one looked hard enough in London possibly, but London doesn't have that many cycle lanes), put a skip in a cycle lane etc etc. in our area which has lots of cycle lanes. The brave man must be a stunt cyclist or something! Some of those falls looked SORE>
