To have carpet in the bathroom?

I know you're all going to recoil in horror at the idea but I'm really fed up of cold floors.

I want to step out of bath onto the warmth and comfort of carpet. Yes I have a ds and yes he often misses but I'll get one of those shaped rug things that goes round the base of the loo.

Dh disagrees and wants to put fecking lino down! But he also said if the majority of you lot agree with me I can have my shag pile!

Please please please can I have carpet or aibu?

You have two ensuites??? His 'n' hers?? [henvy]

vess · 25/10/2011 22:07

YABU. Carpets are not meant to be in bathrooms. End of.

mumblechum1 · 25/10/2011 22:08

Yes but I don't use mine anyway. I use the family bathroom, I think ensuites are a bit weird tbh, who wants to listen to the other person's fartings ablutions

Flotex, carpet that behaves like lino?

So, let me get this straight.

You have two ensuites off the one bedroom?

mumblechum1 · 25/10/2011 22:15

Clam,

Yes. It's quite a big house and we didn't need all of the bedrooms so had the room next to ours turned into 2 bathrooms.

OTheHugeWerewolef · 25/10/2011 22:43

Two words, OP: poo spores.

Carpet in the bathroom is vile and unsanitary IMO. Whats wrong with a big bathmat that you can wash now and again? Don't do it OP!

MollyMurphy · 25/10/2011 23:05

Did you ever see that cleaning product commercial where the little boy is peeing and his mom calls him mid stream and he turns himself to the side to answer her - wee stream and all....the tag line being "for all the messes you don't know about" or something to that effect. Yeah. No carpet.

MollyMurphy · 25/10/2011 23:08

Lol! If your not convinced at poo spores than nothing will save you Grin

Notinmykitchen · 25/10/2011 23:08

As a result of reading this thread I went upstairs and sniffed my bathroom carpet. It was really not pleasantShock We will be shopping for lino at the weekend, don't do it OP, really!

CORK TILES.

We have them.

Lovely. Cosy. Antibacterial all on their own apparently, clever natural product and all that. With nice fluffy rugs for extra underfoot pleasure.

Carpet is for furious little needledicks like BumSexRules

notjustme · 26/10/2011 00:28

We had carpet by choice...well actually, it was carpet tiles so no long piles. But they didn't smell or anything.

Instead what did for them was DD2 vomming all over them once, there was absolutely no way I could have cleaned the tiles enough to leave them there, and the acid in them bleached the fibres (big boak). I just took the whole lot up and we got lino.

My parents always had a carpeted bathroom and it was fine, but then none of us weed on the floor. I now have tiles, but they also don't get weed on. Some of you have dodgy bathroom habits.
Boys and men are housetrainable. My husband thankfully believes standing to urinate is for urinals and behind bushes only and is happy to sit in house toilets so no mess.

2rebecca · 26/10/2011 09:34

We always used bathmats withor without carpet, and my parents had one of those washable matching round the loo mats.

PerryCombover · 26/10/2011 09:48

does anyone mind if I keep stale urine rugs in my bathroom?

Jux · 26/10/2011 22:47

I think that's a delightful idea, Perry, would you take everyone's or only your own? Grin

limitedperiodonly · 27/10/2011 18:22

I don't believe that anti-bacterial nonsense about cork tiles.

I am experienced in uncorking bottles of wine. It always penetrates, sometimes right to the top which is Nature's way of saying you should have drunk it sooner.

Urine is surely the same. Some wine even tastes of urine. Usually around the £3.99 mark.
