To think that some football fans are completely inconsiderate.

It is a pleasant Sunday up here in the 'norf' of England and I have just been out for a leisurely stroll with the dog around our normally quiet neighbourhood. I say 'normally', as all I could hear as I walked around (at 2pm-ish) was the inane cheering, yelling and bawling of a number of blokes in a house somewhere en route. The monosyllabic drivel suggests that they were watching a bunch of grown men kicking an over-sized replica bulls testicle around a patch of grass. AIBU to like to think that in our little neighbourhood (which is largely populated by families like mine with young children and/or retired folk) that it would be too much to ask for the football fans to please watch a match without bellowing down the street? On a related note, AIBU for being a 35 year old married man that has bugger all interest in this sport that seems to the most important thing in so many peoples lives ?

crazynannawitchbitch · 23/10/2011 16:12

Oh well,West Ham [hwink] I would've given up on footie, too.

maybe claig could pop along and compose you one of his famous (deluded) football verses.

SickleBOO · 23/10/2011 16:15

It is deathly quiet round here. We live about 1.5 miles or so from Old Trafford & the pub across the way screens matches. You'd think everyone in the area had been abducted by aliens. NOT looking forward to FIL bringing DS home soon. He won't be a happy bunny Grin.

I went out for a leisurely stroll, but because of all the people out walking their dogs I gave up. Between the barking, the jumping up me "it's okay he likes you" and stepping in their shit I realised I wasn't enjoying it anyway.

I do understand the OP as I detest football and think the fan noise sounds like someone torturing a pig and not enjoyment at all, but it just goes to show that we may all be annoying somebody and you have to make some allowances.

I'll get my own back. I'll put some 60s music on and people will be saying "oh god what is that?" :o

DogsBeastFiend · 23/10/2011 16:42

It's because you come from North London. Had you come from the South you'd be far more cheerful and at leasrt know what football is and why it's god's own game. :o

DogsBeastFiend · 23/10/2011 16:44

PS - 6-1! Up yours Ferguson!

All Stamford Bridge is laughing at you, you miserable git.

cockneydad · 23/10/2011 16:44

hehe, maybe you're right dogs!

onagar Where did you hear the pig being tortured and will you please put it on YouTube so that we can all make the comparison!

As for you OP I don't take much interest in football either but get a fucking life, it's the middle of the afternoon and they were enjoying it.

CardyMow · 23/10/2011 17:03

I agree to disagree, OP. You say that you don't hear people yelling at the F1. You obviously don't live near me or any of my relatives. Blush. Many a blue word has been yelled quite vociferously at the television when Lewis Hamilton has made an on-track error. I may be female - but I am very passionate about Formula 1. I think it's because I was brought up mostly by my Dad, and was taught to worship at the feet of the racing god that was Ayrton Senna. My Uncles and Aunts are all just as vocal when it comes to F1 too.

SickleBOO · 23/10/2011 18:35

I can kind of see where you're coming from OP. Football does seem to make people extremely over excited in a way which I've never seen with any other sport. I guess not being into football myself, or having anyone close to me being into it either, does leave me a bit confused about the passion the game invokes.

However, I may well not escape the football bug. I have 2 boys, so there's every chance one of them may like the game. I'm sure DH is praying that won't be the case though!

MigratingCoconuts · 23/10/2011 18:52

MigratingCoconuts · 23/10/2011 18:54

SickleBoo You know my mission - find the tone and lower it!

ChaoticAngelofSamhain · 23/10/2011 19:03

If football was banned tomorrow it wouldn't bother me in the slightest but look on the bright side cockneydad. If they're making so much noise watching the football they can't then complain if you play some loud music for a while Wink
