To think that some football fans are completely inconsiderate.

It is a pleasant Sunday up here in the 'norf' of England and I have just been out for a leisurely stroll with the dog around our normally quiet neighbourhood. I say 'normally', as all I could hear as I walked around (at 2pm-ish) was the inane cheering, yelling and bawling of a number of blokes in a house somewhere en route. The monosyllabic drivel suggests that they were watching a bunch of grown men kicking an over-sized replica bulls testicle around a patch of grass. AIBU to like to think that in our little neighbourhood (which is largely populated by families like mine with young children and/or retired folk) that it would be too much to ask for the football fans to please watch a match without bellowing down the street? On a related note, AIBU for being a 35 year old married man that has bugger all interest in this sport that seems to the most important thing in so many peoples lives ?

Well, your head would have exploded the other night in my house when Arsenal scored a 91st minute goal, I can tell ya! Grin

Nancy66 · 23/10/2011 15:31

Pretty hard to get passionate about golf I'd have thought...

Not very PC to say - but I'm really turned off by men who don't like sport

crazynannawitchbitch · 23/10/2011 15:31

FellatioNelson That said man has the utmost taste...I would keep hold of him if I was you Wink

I think even yourealise YABU OP. Get over yourself.

cockneydad · 23/10/2011 15:33

I am no sports snob at all - whatever floats your boat. Just prefer not to have to listen to the intellectual musings of those who are into it. The next time I see a good dinner knocked up on 'Come Dine with Me', or someone win the long jump on the athletics, or get double top, I'll be sure to invite 20 mates around, get p*ed up and yell obscenities out of the window - 'come and have a go if your cakes are hard enough....'

oh dear - you sound like a stand-up trying out his routine.

worraliberty · 23/10/2011 15:35

God I'd hate to be your neighbour

What ever happened to tolerance?

blackeyedsusan · 23/10/2011 15:35

I do not get the obsession with watching 22 men chase a bag of wind round a field, but i am not adverse to a loud groan or to getting a bit excited when a wicket falls... so yabu. (as long as it is not too loud)

JeremyVile · 23/10/2011 15:35

Oi oi, the Ladies Javelin sounds like its getting a bit tasty...

gordyslovesheep · 23/10/2011 15:37

Hahahaha buy some ear phones - all the better to listen to self help audio books and quiche recipies - seriously - YABU - and also unfunny - nice try but no

MainlyMaynie · 23/10/2011 15:40

You've never heard anyone making that much noise over rugby? I can only assume you've never been in the vicinity of people watching a rugby match.

cockneydad · 23/10/2011 15:43

I don't mind a bit of noise now and then, course not.... but I can hear every word from several streets away and have a 2 year old trying to nap. The ladies javelin can get quite tasty..manys the time I've bawled the house down on that one I tell ya.

You can tell your not a sports fan and don't understand the passion of the fans. I hate football but if you were to walk past my house when my team was playing in rugby (the rare games I dont go to!) then you will hear shouting and cheering.

IQuiteLikeVodka · 23/10/2011 15:57

OH DEAR!! But Man Utd lost siiix-1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin
OP live (and watch golf if you must) and LET LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HardCheese · 23/10/2011 15:59

OP, come and be my new best friend. When I'm queen of the universe I'm banning football and replacing its centrality to TV schedules, punditry, sports pages etc with something like under-sevens' gymnastics or caber-tossing.

mankyscotslass · 23/10/2011 16:01

SIIIIIIIIIIX - OOOOOOOOOOOOOONE !

Is that too loud? Grin

cockneydad · 23/10/2011 16:03

That's OK if I was walking past your house - wouldn't mind at all - I can hear it sat inside with the window shut from a a few streets away - no problem with football, or rugby, or F1 or anything else ! I can understand it - just the fans near me seem to use it as an excuse to go totally nuts - seems a bit OTT that is all. Anyway - there's me two (20) pen'orth ! Off to read a self help book, make a quiche. PS, in reply to a previous poster, I need to be a comedian to cope, as I was a West Ham supporter in my youth before I get fed up with the game!
