To spend money I can't afford on a weekend away?

I have two friends from school that I would still class among my 'best' friends, even though we don't see each other very often as we all live in different countries. The last time we saw each other was last christmas. We've been talking for some time about organising a weekend away just us girls, but now it's actually come to the crunch and I've worked out how much it would cost, I really don't think I can afford it. :(
I still really, really want to go though. AIBU to book it anyway? Blush

Ok I would go. To save the guilt put a smaller amount into the savings account this month and make it up next month. DP present does not have to cost the earth sometimes making a special meal or spending quality time together is better than an expensive present. If i have learnt one thing as I have got older it is you never know what is around the corner so enjoy life(without being silly) and if being with your friends is important then do it. Some of my good friends have passed away long before their time but I can still smile and remember them and the good times we had. Thats my pennies worth!

i would go - since dh died, i have often said life is too short - so do things you put off, as maybe you wont be able to do them again :(

you have no kids and only a dh to consider - you dont need wine ............... well actually you prob do lol

but the other points apart from the debt arent major

out of curiousty , whats the weekend gonna cost - though obv what may be a huge sum to some isnt to others

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your Dh, blonde.

The weekend would probably end up costing me at least 500? - flight + hotel + spending money. I'd tried to find a cheaper hotel, but there isn't anywhere any way nice that is significantly cheaper really.

thanks, its fine, wasnt looking for sympathy - just trying to make you reliese that if you want to do something and prob can, then dont put it off, you you may find you can do it in the future :)
