E.g liz 'proud mummy' smith etc. It just looks pathetic. And don't even get me started on people who give their newborn babies Facebook pages. Or is that just me that gets wound up by this?

I've just deleted her and will ignore in future. I don't think there's anything wrong with loving or being proud of your children or of being a mum but I think it's a bit vomit inducing to see it pop up every time that I look on Facebook. Each to their own though

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 09:53

And the person in question has her uni details as university of mummy and her employment as mummy to a lovely bubba!

Fo0ffyShmooffer · 11/10/2011 10:00

Yanbu.

I always get the impression they are desperate to prove something.

duckdodgers · 11/10/2011 10:04

"University of Mummy"?? Oh good god, what are these people on? Hmm

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 10:06

I have no idea. I fear for their future!

duckdodgers · 11/10/2011 10:07

Im friends with a group of people on FB that I was pregnant with with DS3, sometimes I have to raise an eyebrow or 2 at their language but it doesnt botehr me enough to delete them and none of them ahve this sort of crap in their names! Thye do however talk about "nips" for nipples and 1 has just dsicovered she is having a boy after a girl and quite a few people have said "thats great baby boys are lush"........do people really talk like this in real life?

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 10:11

Oh yes they really do. I also had one 'friend' on there a while back who was pissed off that people hadn't congratulated her DS on his 7th tooth. She kind of stopped the stupidity once I updated to omg DS has over 100 blades of hair I'm so proud and I haven't heard from her since Grin

YANBU. However I confess that for a long time I was, as many of my FB 'friends' are, "Firstname Surname END BSL", to indicate my support of and involvement in the campaign to end breed specific legislation.

Can't say I'd be "Jane Smith mummyofpreciousprincessdarlings" though.

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 10:15

See that makes more sense than the random mummy bit tbh. I just think that there are so many more defining features of a person than purely being a mummy

Its a bit wanky, I see it and automatically think, twat with no identity and probably thick as shit are a bit dim. I have to say I probably see it far more as I'm 23 so my friends are mainly young mums desperate to prove themselves and often trying to bait an absent father.

Had no idea people made pages for the actualy baby though Hmm

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 11/10/2011 10:18

*actual

Caffeinefiend · 11/10/2011 10:29

YANBU
I've seen one friend do it, and it's just annoying.

Though my name on here used to be crystalmom but that's just because I hate picking forum names as my mind always goes blank and I can't bloody think of anything!

eurochick · 11/10/2011 10:34

Luckily none of my friends have done this. But I see it a lot on here and it does make me think "do you really have no identity of your own other than as the mother of your child?" There's nothing wrong with being a proud parent but it seems rather sad that you could find no other way to identify yourself online.

notso · 11/10/2011 10:42

Snort at University of Mummy.

I think I want to change my name to MumsyWumsyFluffleBums now, I quite like it.

Facebook is too annoying, full of this kind of crap.
I only go on it now to speak to my Sis and a friend in Manchester
My formerly witty, itelligent friend has been reduced to this behaviour since having children. She is forever posting "Had a wuvverly day wiv my boo'ful bubbas and Fiance" then he 'likes this' and replies
"We did too Mumkin Wuv U lots like JellyTotz" and she 'like this' and so on and so on until we all collapse to a big pile of vomit making wuvverlyness.
.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 11/10/2011 10:52

I have my employment as "stepford wife". That is it. Grin

LOVE "Uni of Mummy" though! May have to add it!

I hate the word Mummy anyway.

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 11:19

Mine says general dogsbody Grin although I do like stepford wife

OP posts:
TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 11:19

Mama is worse. DS picked this little gem up of a doll and now it's always said in the most irritating whiney voice possible

OP posts:
TheRealMrsHannigan · 11/10/2011 11:34

I can't stand the newborn profiles either. I had a friend request from my cousins unborn child. Seriously.

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 11:40

An unborn child on Facebook?! Wow I think you may have topped the university of mummy
Some people shouldn't be allowed Internet access!

OP posts:
aldiwhore · 11/10/2011 11:41

Can't say it bothers me overtly so you're being U.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/10/2011 11:45

Well I just got ditched by my primary client due to cash flow problems, so may change my employment to 'domestic godddess' or maybe 'baby incubator' as that is all I will be doing now, unless anyone knows of a good place for a 6 month pregnant woman to find work?

DejaWho · 11/10/2011 11:45

Oh fuck I could get soooo much revenge for the obnoxious updates by abusing the unborn child one!

Brb making a facebook account for the not even yet a bump bump and adding everyone whose updates have ever annoyed me!

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 11/10/2011 11:48

Can you imagine the status updates- unborn foetus hates what mummy wummy has done so is kicking her until she gets a grip and takes me off Facebook

OP posts:
TobyLeWolef · 11/10/2011 11:50

YANBU, OP.

Ditto twitter names, self-styled 'mummy bloggers' and couples with amalgamated FB/email accounts.
