Saffron, congrats!

I have started tidying my DC's room which is a horrible job but I'll feel so much better when half the junk has gone. Also took my mum out for her birthday lunch and no-one fell out. Grin

Lots of good things happened today...

The builder who was supposed to start work today called up to delay, and so I could enjoy a lovely morning cuppa without worrying about preparing the house/moving stuff for his visit

Went out for a walk in the afternoon and the air was so fresh and there was some kind of lovely blossomy scent in the air

Dog and I had loads and loads of cuddles and really enjoyed the closeness

DH got a pay rise, very small but still a positive sign

Had a yum home-cooked dinner topped off with a delicious apple crumble

saffron · 10/10/2011 20:58

Ah thanks Aleene Smile

RachelHRD · 10/10/2011 20:58

Aww some fab posts here.

A good day in this house. DD (19 months) is only 12 days post a big operation to reverse her colostomy so she could start using her new bottom (born with a bowel/anal malformation) and she is doing really well. Only had 8 dirty nappies today which compared to the possible 20-30 we were expecting is brilliant :)

Oh and DS (4) was pretty well behaved today - joined in at Rugby for once and thanked me for cooking a lovely tea :)

I am very blessed to have such fab DC's Grin

  1. i have just eaten chocolate
  2. i like the new paint colour in our lounge
  3. DD wrote her name really well
  4. DD2 is generally being very smiley and special
  5. I saw my brother who normally lives in Poland!
  6. Strictly is on!
nomiddlename · 10/10/2011 21:08

DS (6) actually tried some of the steak and ale pie I'd cooked for tea and said he liked it and could he have more tomorrow.

For a child who barely ate anything until 3 months ago, I almost cried with happiness!

Apart from that, it's been mundane tiredness.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/10/2011 21:10

I had a lovely conversation with DS(3.7) today (who can be a handful!)

DS - I hate Mr Tumble
ME - DS please don't say "hate" that is not a nice word to use. Just say you don't like Mr Tumble.
DS - Tarquin* says it. I copied him
ME - Well it is not nice and you shouldn't copy what Tarquin says.
DS - I should show him how to be nice and good shouldn't I?

Aww bless him!!

*Name changed, child who has been very unpleasant to DS and a couple of other children in his preschool class. I am sure there are plenty of nice Tarquins but it was the first name that popped into my head.

Psammead · 10/10/2011 21:12

My DD pulled all my tablecloths onto the floor, and a fifty euro note floated down with them. Had no idea it was there. Took me ages to remember where it was from!

fluffythevampirestabber · 10/10/2011 21:14

I had a test at uni. I was bricking it. Got up at stupid o'clock to study for it.

Had a horrible drive in to uni this morning in the rain.

But the test was fine Grin really really fine and I know I did OK

RoseC · 10/10/2011 21:27

I had to have blood taken today (makes me really woozy - have been told not to donate - and I'm scared of needles). This, naturally, meant I got to go to McDonalds to 'replace' everything I'd had taken and when DP went to buy salad for dinner after I'd realised how many calories lunch had contained he brought back my favourite sushi and made one of the best salads I've ever eaten, complete with my favourite capers, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, oranges, beetroot, etc. And a mini Gu pudding :)

Currently sitting on the sofa, curled up with cups of tea and feeling lovely and cosy.

And I saw a wolf t-shirt when I was on my way to the hospital this morning... can't get any better! Grin

tarantula · 10/10/2011 21:28

I've had a really bad few weeks where everything seems to have broken/died/fallen down and generally gone wrong....but today I found out I don't have cancer so today has been a very good day for me and I don't care about all the crappy stuff anymore.

JoandMax · 10/10/2011 21:32

DS2 ate half a digestive after tea - he was NG tube fed til a major op 3 months ago so we've only been weaning a short time, some days he'll have a tiny amount of yoghurt or purée or play with finger foods but he just swiped it and nibbled it with a very smug look on his face! It was a lovely, lovely moment and DS1 said 'wow, Mummy look, DS2 can eat!!'

FagAshLill · 10/10/2011 21:36

Day 2 of being smoke free and the kids are still alive.

A piece of furniture I ordered arrived today, 5 days early.

um...that's pretty much it really.

BibiBatsberg · 10/10/2011 21:40

PERFECT THREAD! Thank you so much for starting it OP! Not brave enough to start a 'bragathon' of my own but I came home to a letter from the Inland Revenue today reckoning they owe me money!

First time ever in my life though I'm very wary and won't believe it until the money is safely in my bank account. 14 days is a long time for another letter to arrive which says 'oh, by the way, we made a mistake and you OWE us x £'

:)

AprilAl · 10/10/2011 21:41

So lovely to read all your good news. It's making a good day even better :)

DH and I went on our first shopping trip for things for our baby today (our first, due in spring). We still can't stop marvelling and cooing over the teeny tiny socks. They're so cute! I'm so excited!

I had a SHITE day (just to ruin the mood) Our house sale fell through (buyer pulled out) and then I got a speeding fine. RUBBISH!!! Let's hope tomorrow is better!

royaljelly · 10/10/2011 21:58

I got the last pair of fur lined Peppa Pig boots for my daughter at Debenhams and had the start of my 2nd week back at work. Have made it through the 1st week of feeling like it's the first day at school and I am really starting to enjoy it.

wheredidiputit · 10/10/2011 22:24

DD2 (4yrs) drew a lovely picture of her nursery teacher complete with her saying she 'loves her'. She also drew a picture of her family. We seemed to be green blobs in a circle Grin.

DS1 (2.5yr) told everyone that 'mummies not normal' said in a deadpan voice.

I'm sure they love me really.

MeconiumHappens · 11/10/2011 13:17

Im up the duff :) With our first baby, first grandchild for both sets. Heard its little heartbeat for the first time this week. Happy days.

Sending some happy vibes your way op.

Frizzbonce · 11/10/2011 13:36

Finished writing my play. And just as I sent it off, the doorbell rang and it was Ms Postie with my lovely J Brand jeans from eBay. And they make my arse look peachy it has to be said. AND I only paid £35 for them instead of the insanely overpriced £150 they are in the shops.
And there was a Snickers bar hiding in the fridge.

NoobyNoob · 11/10/2011 13:50

I've had a lovely day today.

I had a midwife appointment and my little girl is growing nice and healthy, and I heard her heartbeat which never, ever fails to give me the biggest, cheesiest grin possible.

I just feel, well....happy :)

I hope you're having a better day today.

wordfactory · 11/10/2011 13:52

Tax repayment from the states came in the post.

Yeah baby.
