" methinks".

TheBloodCountessBathory · 09/10/2011 20:58

"poorly sick"

Especially when used by adults on their facebook updates "I am poorly sick :("

Grow up losers!!

NorksAreMessy · 09/10/2011 20:59

Thanks Viking
Is there a real use for this verb tense, or is it just for footballers?

madam52 · 09/10/2011 21:00

Oh and 'nice one' - why the actual fuck cant anyone under 40 say 'thank you' anymore when you give them something.

I mean how do you actually know that the BASTARD CUP OF TEA l AM GIVING YOU IS A 'NICE ONE' - IT COULD BE THE MOST DISGUSTING CUP OF TEA EVER - sorry -

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 09/10/2011 21:02

Time for a lie down in a darkened room with a cool flannel on your forehead Madam Grin

DorothyGherkins · 09/10/2011 21:03

Vast majority. It's either a majority or it's not.

HowlingWereWolfBitch · 09/10/2011 21:04

Simples! .

Grr....

KindKim · 09/10/2011 21:04

Yadda yadda.

Hate it with a passion. Ex DH used it all when time when he was squirming out of his lies, or when he was trying to sound more intelligent than he actually was.

And wtf does it actually mean? Nothing. Nothing at all. It's just a person carrying on making noise when they think they should be talking. If you haven't got anything worth saying then SHUT UP, stop wasting my brain space with this stupid saying!

microserf · 09/10/2011 21:06

i fucking loathe all of

bab, babby, bubs, baby without a pronoun (as in "how's baby"). it's the baby, or use his/her name.

also:

hubby - vile
horny - my own particular bete noire.

margoandjerry · 09/10/2011 21:06

"Can I get..." You are not in Central Perk. You are not American. You do not look like Rachel. Please stop it.

"Let's do X going forward" - well yes because time does not move backwards so it's going to have to be going forwards...unless I kill you and then time will stop altogether for you.

"Guys". Just makes anyone sound like Cliff Richard.

worraliberty · 09/10/2011 21:06

'et al'

And 'arks' instead of ask

VikingBlood · 09/10/2011 21:07

Norks it is a real tense, misused by footballers. You probably wouldn't be offended if I said 'I had seen that film too many times to watch it again.'

madam52 · 09/10/2011 21:08

Nice one Maisie that would be awesome.

'Cheers' !

LetLoveRule · 09/10/2011 21:09

'teeth itch' makes my ... well, teeth itch.

DrinkYourWeakLemonDrinkNow · 09/10/2011 21:10

Lots of these but definately the one used in the title about what makes your 'teeth itch'.

Also 'enjoy'.

VikingBlood · 09/10/2011 21:11

Norks my mistake, just reread your original post, and it is in fact the present perfect, not past, oops, must be tired. Anyway 'I have eaten all the cake' is something I would say if DH came down looking for a late night snack, not as a running commentary as I am stuffing my face full of aforementioned cake.

smackapacca · 09/10/2011 21:13

What's wrong with 'portion'? Confused

MillyR · 09/10/2011 21:13

DG, I don't understand your explanation. Surely a vast majority is more descriptive than just saying 'a majority', which could then in fact be a small majority?

As opposed to people saying a 'safe haven' when a haven obviously can't be unsafe.

GumballCharm · 09/10/2011 21:14

"what a shame!"

When it's not a shame at all...it's a minor inconvenience.

NorksAreMessy · 09/10/2011 21:19

OK Viking I see what you mean, but the footballer would say "she's gone to the cake tin and she's opened it and she's eaten a big slice"
Why not "she went to the cake tin"?

Am I making tense-sense?

madam52 · 09/10/2011 21:21

Its ok I'm at the Hospickle now Maisie.

IvyAndGold · 09/10/2011 21:22

Moist.
My friend describes himself as 'loopy', have considered disowning him just for this.
Titties.

Exercise, hearing that word makes me all tense and horrible Grin

Wheresmylifegone · 09/10/2011 21:25

Chillax...Yuk! Who on earth came up with that?
Lush - Gavin & Stacey has a lot to answer for!
Both of these are commonly used by my 15yr old DSD, and it puts my teeth on edge everytime. I guess I'm just old....

Proudnreallyveryscary · 09/10/2011 21:27
