I like sausage rolls. Lovely, flaky, greasy sausage rolls. I eat them, I am going to keep on eating them and I'm going to give them to my DC. Even Greggs ones.

I went to the Greggs Moments cafe in Newcastle last week... Ummmmm Grin

ScarahStratton · 08/10/2011 09:36

I am ashamed to admit that last night I ate a whole Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie. Blush

They are my dirty little secret, I indulge when the DDs are away for the weekend.

PeggyNight · 08/10/2011 09:39

I like to follow up a greasy pastry intake with one of their patisserie cream doughnut, just so my arteries don't go getting comfy or anything

iarebaboon · 08/10/2011 09:41

I heard a rumor that they're going to start selling frozen Greggs sausage rolls in Iceland.

This mum may have to break her vow and go to Iceland afterall

stressheaderic · 08/10/2011 09:47

I see your Greggs, Sayers and Waterfields, and raise you...www.poundbakery.co.uk/. Filthy greasy loveliness and a quick route to high cholesterol, all for under a quid.

NorthernChinchilla · 08/10/2011 09:49

Seconding AmberLeaf and the Gregg's steak bake.

NOTHING beats the scalding hot diarrhoea type filling sticking to the top of your mouth, complemented by the flaky, stretchy pastry that my Gran would not even recognise as being of that food group, so poor is it.

NOTHING

Sausage roll with curly fries with cheese on and salad cream.

I love Greggs chicken slice and also their caramel donuts, It's one the few places now where you still get a decent sized cake/pastry for your money!

ben5 · 08/10/2011 09:58

bubbles you must be welsh as I've seen you on the other thread. You need to cross the boarder at nce to try a Gregs sausage roll or get down to Cornwall to try a lovely pastie!

WitchesBroomForMyChin · 08/10/2011 10:03

I'm about to eat left over Chinese take away for breakfast Blush and I love sausage rolls with tomato sauce.

PeggyNight · 08/10/2011 10:05

Down here they do a lovely lardy cake in Greggs

WatermelonSugar · 08/10/2011 10:26

Greggs sausage, bean and cheese melts are simultaneously the best and worst of all possible foods.

feedthegoat · 08/10/2011 10:34

Hecate I have never found anyone else who likes potnoodle sandwiches! I am not alone in the world!

Although if we are fessing up to filthy food habits, I had a Vesta Chow Mein the other day for old times sake. I have no shame when it comes to food!

Mandy2003 · 08/10/2011 10:47

Sausage roll dipped in mayonnaise! In fact anything any savory food dipped in mayonnaise Grin

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 08/10/2011 12:35

feedthegoat - pot noodle sandwiches are the dog's bollocks, aren't they? Grin

I discovered them during my student days - when I was rarely sober because let's be honest, deciding for the first time to boil up a pot noodle and stick it between some bread is an idea that can only be had after 8 pints of newcastle brown...

AWimbaWay · 08/10/2011 12:44

I steal sausage rolls at children's parties. I'm cunning though, I put them on my daughter's plate knowing full well she doesn't like them, then eat them as 'it'd be a shame to waste them'.

blackeyedsusan · 08/10/2011 12:54

you are being very unreasonable because now I want one humph Envy

MrHeadlessMan · 08/10/2011 13:15

we haven't yet touched the great sausage roll issue - hot or cold? I usually prefer mine hot apart from Xmas, when somehow it seems right that they should be cold.

OP posts:
HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 08/10/2011 13:32

Hot, or course. Cold sausage rolls are only acceptable if they are those tiny little one bite things served at naff buffets Grin

A sausage roll must burn your tongue, leave a little bit of grease on your chin and deposit half a kilo of pastry down your bra for later

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 08/10/2011 13:32

MrHeadlessMan · 08/10/2011 13:41

I can't stand those bite-size ones. There's no satisfaction. Needs to be big, long and juicy.

OP posts:
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2011 13:44

YANBU at all! Sausage rolls rule. Cheap ones especially rule. And cold is best for little bite-size ones, as Hecate says. In fact I probably prefer all sausage rolls cold, come to think of it. I would never say no to a hot one either though.

I have to walk 25 minutes or get a bus to a Greggs.

Anyone in Wales or been to a Greggs in Wales recently? They do Welsh cakes for breakfast time. God I love them.

LeBOF · 08/10/2011 13:56

HP sauce is the only choice of accompaniment. Anything else is just wrong.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 08/10/2011 13:58

Pasty, chips and beans. Mmmmmmm....
