Some of the language used by some people on here was really appauling.

Hang your heads in shame!

too late im afraid ! that kind of pig-headed blind ignorance when it comes to crime annoys me beyond belief .

scaryteacher · 03/10/2011 21:52

I agree with Trois about Adams and McGuinness.

I also think that this hasn't been about the murder or the victim, but about Knox and Sollecito. Meredith Kercher has been forgotten in all of this, and that is the truly shameful thing about the whole proceedings.

LadyBeagleEyes · 03/10/2011 21:53

Because slavetofilofax, she would be making the money on the back of Meredith Kercher's death.
How can that possibly be OK in any sane world.

wannaBe · 03/10/2011 21:55

It's like a circus.

In truth we'll never know whether she did it or not.

but...

If she hadn't been american, attractive and, dare I say it, white, she would never had got this level of publicity.

A young girl has died and that has been forgotten in this farce.

I hope amanda knox disappears back to the states never to be seen again. To profit from this in any way would be despicable - I don't care whether she's innocent or not.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2011 21:55

I have no opinion whatsoever on whether she is/was guilty or not, but my overrriding feeling is that I am incredibly sorry for Meridith's family and any family in situations like this, where after years of pain and uncertainty they are, yet again, no further forward with closure and healing.

Mishy1234 · 03/10/2011 21:57

If AK really is sorry about the death of her friend (as she said today), then one would expect the last thing she would want to do would be to make money out of it. Also, playing the whole thing out in front of MK's family, just 4 years after they lost their daughter is distasteful in the extreme.

slavetofilofax · 03/10/2011 21:58

Lady, she wouldn't be making money out of Meredith, she would be making money out of the fact that she was found guilty of a crime that she was innocent of.

AgentZigzag · 03/10/2011 21:59

I'm not saying I like the idea of people making money from the deaths of other people LadyB, but if you think about it, it happens all the time.

From the real crime programs, through to films about the world wars, all of it's about the same.

Like it or not, but people are fascinated by the subject.

KatieScarlett2833 · 03/10/2011 22:00

The whole thing has been disgusting. I will be apologising to no one.

It's been the AK show. Wait for the TV Specials. The thought turns my stomach.

RIP Meredith and God Bless the Kerchers. They have shown nothing but dignity during this whole terrible affair.

reelingintheyears · 03/10/2011 22:02

LadyBeagleEyes she will be making money based on her own experiences and the last four years of her life.

Not because she murdered Meredith Kercher.

But because she didn't and because she lost her liberty for four years for something she didn't do.

LadyBeagleEyes · 03/10/2011 22:03

So she's been proved innocent, then why not come back and do one interview, where she gives the money to a charity to victims of murder.
Then get on with her life.
Which I seriously hopes she does.

BatsUpMeNightie · 03/10/2011 22:03

Hear Hear Reeling!

reelingintheyears · 03/10/2011 22:07

Maybe she will do an interview.

Why should she give any monies to charity?

If she is innocent then she has just spent four years in a foreign jail and how much will it have cost her family to be there supporting her.

I couldn't afford to go to Italy for long periods to support my family if something so awful happened to them.

slavetofilofax · 03/10/2011 22:08

Why in the world should she give the money to victims of murder? She is a victim herself! She lost a friend and she lost her freedom for four years. She can't just walk back into the life she left behind. She will probably have years of therapy, how is she supposed to support herself, or pay her family back for everything they spent on her campaign, or actually just recover from what has happened to her?

BatsUpMeNightie · 03/10/2011 22:08

I also don't see why she should give money to charity? Can anyone explain the thinking behind that?

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2011 22:10

I agree with that Reeling. Whilst it is distasteful to think that a murderer might profit from getting off on a technicality, I imagine that if you were innocent, after 4 years you would start to feel so desperate and furious about your own plight that the victim and her family would be pretty far from you mind. If she is innocent then she is a victim of sorts too.

LadyBeagleEyes · 03/10/2011 22:10

So will you be watching the tv movie Reeling and Bats?
Will you be buying the book?
You seem so certain of her innocence.
I've admitted upthread, the case is so complicated that I have no idea.
But whether innocent or guilty, Meredith is still dead and her parents stiill have no closure.
So, no, I don't want to see a movie which portrays her or anyone else as some sort of a hero. Let her go back to the States and live a quiet and productive life, and thank her lucky stars her life didn't end the way Meredith's did.

scottishmummy · 03/10/2011 22:12

language used to describe her is tame compared to McCann family

the McCann's have been speculated about, derided, whispering gossip on mn much more than this tawdry case

this case had sex, alcohol, jealousy was always bound to be a salacious story

i do feel for merdith kercher family.this must be so painful and makes no closure for them

reelingintheyears · 03/10/2011 22:14

Nope LBE.

Don't read/watch that stuff.

I don't know whether she is innocent or not.But the Italian court has just said she is so we have to accept that she is.

I also said up thread that none of us will ever know.

I too feel so sorry for Meredith Kercher's parents but how awful would it have been if a young woman and a young man had spent their lives in jail for something they hadn't done.

BatsUpMeNightie · 03/10/2011 22:14

No - I wouldn't watch the movie or read the book - that kind of thing does not appeal to me no matter who the subject. She has been deemed innocent by a court of law so whatever you think you should probably sit on it and remember that if you were that clever you'd be the judge!

HerdOfTinyElephants · 03/10/2011 22:16

troisgarcons, what do you think the Birmingham Six should have swung from a high beam for? Because there was never any meaningful evidence that they were involved with the Birmingham pub bombings or with the IRA in any way whatsoever. Similarly with the Guildford Four. They didn't even fit the profiles of people the IRA might have considered recruiting.

slavetofilofax · 03/10/2011 22:16

But whether innocent or guilty, Meredith is still dead and her parents stiill have no closure

Yes, but AK doing a book or movie deal makes no difference to that.

Both could be done from Amanda's point of view and be based on what happend to her rather than what happened to Meredith.

Meredith was obviously hurt more by this than Amanda was, but that doesn't mean that Amanda's suffering amounts to nothing.

She's a celebrity for killing someone

Were you there then? Or did you just feel like a bit of libel/American bashing at 10.20 on a boring Monday night?
