DS is making me sit through it now... And FFS why does that child insist on SHOUTING?

Am I missing something "entertaining" about this? Confused

I'd like to know why Baby Jake never cries inconsolably for 3 hrs for seemingly no good reason whatsoever whilst his beautiful parents shout and scream at each other about whose fault it is and why does he never do an exploding poo that covers him from head to foot 5 mins after he's been changed?

I quite like it but only because baby Jake bears more than a passing resemblence to my own ds (10months) except my ds is obviously even cuter. The googy geeyah business does make me cringe a bit though.

MogTheForgetfulCat · 03/10/2011 21:10

My older 2 DSs (5 and 3) inexplicably adore this show - especially DS2 as he is Isaac, like the narrator It makes my teeth itch, hate goo-goo baby talk. Bah.

Second whoever above said they love Abney & Teal - it's sweet, and I love the fact that Abney is made of corduroy.

"Also thought the mother looks too young to have ten kids. The show is hardly a flagship for contraception, either... VERY irresponsible of cbeebies.. "

lol... what about the pontipines?

I feel an inferiority complex. How does Baby Jake's mother manage to look so fab. I think if I had ten kids I would be a nervous wreck.

trumpton · 03/10/2011 21:15

GS loves it. ( Disclaimer .. he is 12 months old )
I love it cos it is wind down time for him < Tired granny emoticon)

We are witholding judgement on Abney and Teal .Altho I do like Toby the concertina playing dog .

HeidiKat · 03/10/2011 21:15

YouDoTheMath I always thought it sounded like Ginny, but never heard of a boy called Ginny and it definitely says "he thinks he's a tree."

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 03/10/2011 22:50

You know what really bugs me... Grin

The fact that real baby jake has a normal babygro on, but in the cartoon it changes to a "bum flap" type babygro!!

Grin

PS I thought it was Ginny too. Its Irish, is Ginny a boys name there??

PPS, I dont think their mother is too young, even if shes early thirties, the eldest is about 14 I reckon, so she'd have been 16 at the youngest when she had her. She could have been 18 and easily now be 32. Or even if the daughter is 16, she could have had her at 18 and still only be 34

TryLikingClarity · 03/10/2011 23:02

DH and I give each other a look when it's on, we both think Baby Jake is a freaky programme, esp the scary staring eyes and huge mouth of the rabbit.

DS (20 months) loves it and claps when it comes on. No idea what sort of mind control CBBC is trying to do to the nations kids, but it's working.

I always wondered how safe it'd be to have 10 kids and live in a windmill Confused

Also, Issac and Jake are the only kids that ever do anything, so why didn't they call them names beginning with A and B??

backwardpossom · 03/10/2011 23:10

DS loves it, too! I tolerate it as it usually gives me the chance to have a shower in peace Grin

BarbieLovesKen · 03/10/2011 23:36

Love it! Dd and I often do the dance..

FreddieMercurysBolero · 03/10/2011 23:51

Why does he shake his arse? And why do they zoom in when he does it? It just feels wrong..

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 04/10/2011 00:23

It's bloody creepy, had me quivering behind the sofa that one.

I haven't known such trauma since POB.

MumblingRagDoll · 04/10/2011 00:41

I complained on here the other day when he kept saying "FACK! FACK!" Hmm

Agree with Gwendoline his bottom wiggle is odd.

xStarGirl · 04/10/2011 08:14

You lot are blind, Ginny is a GIRL! Isn't it obvious from looking at her? Confused
(The subtitles say "who thinks she's a tree", by the way, so I know I'm right Grin)

My DS (16mo) loves Baby Jake, it's the only TV programme he ever focuses on. I can understand how parents of older children are annoyed by the baby talk, but it encourages my quiet DS to respond to questions so I'm happy!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 04/10/2011 08:19

I thought she was a girl, but it def at least sounds like "he thinks hes" Grin

I've had the girl/boy conflict with OH about the "G" character. I have always maintained the fact that it's a girl although TBH I thought it was gilly, as in Gillian... He on the other had swears its a He! I think next time I will get the subtitles on just to prove it to him. Thanks xStarGirl for proving me right....well almost I did get the name slightly wrong

I also agree with most, I can't stand baby jake except for the fact I get 10 minutes respite, as my 15 month old DS loves it!! And the bum wiggling freaks me out!

RobinSparkles · 09/06/2012 20:58

Aw, how can you hate Baby Jake? :( He's so cute.

LittlePicnic · 09/06/2012 21:16

It makes me laugh so much. He is soooooo cute!

pinkthechaffinch · 09/06/2012 21:38

It's Definitely g is for ginny who thinks she's a tree. (We always have subtitles on ). And she has 2 long pigtails !

habbibu · 09/06/2012 21:42

Oh, thank the stars! I HATe baby jake. The voice is just vile, the songs stupid. dcs like it, possibly all the more because they know how much I hate it. I want to lock them in a Chugginton train shed with Charlie and Lola.

BarredfromhavingStella · 09/06/2012 21:44

Sorry but YABU-dd loves it & cracks me up when she sings along with him.

ZZZZNaptime · 09/06/2012 21:46

I want them to keep having children and work their way through the rest of the alphabet.

So when baby jake is grown up we can have a programme about baby ken and so on until Z.

BertieBotts · 09/06/2012 21:46

The rabbit is creepy, though. I can't stand it's GUH-HUH laugh either Confused
