AIBU to spend £80 on an advent calender for myself

I know I am, but I really really really really want it

Would it make any difference if I told you I was 46 and have never had an advent calender?

I don't get it either. What are the chances of you actually liking all those different perfumes? These are free samples, dressed up in a cardboard box. I'd much rather spend £80 on a bottle of perfume I really lived and some cream that matched.

pointydog · 01/10/2011 20:30

You is nuts, lady. All those little samples everywhere would look big-time crappy.

marriedinwhite · 01/10/2011 20:37

I saw your post and was all ready to say goodness me don't be silly, buy yourself a Cadbury's for 1.99 and spend the balance on a nice top or something. But having looked at the link, if you've got the money just do it. I'm going to order one for my mum - she'll be made up with it. I'm going to spend the money for me on a great big bottle of Hypnose which is one of my favourite perfumes.

I want one!

I was fully prepared for OMG YABU, but you sooooo arent! It is fab and a real bargain when you price it up for what you get :)

cakeoclock · 01/10/2011 20:53

I had this last year it is fab but not worth 80 quid. My lovely mum bought mine, most of the items are small, bigger than testers but still small for the price. If you really want it though get it!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 01/10/2011 20:56

Like everyone else, I was coming on here to say YABVU... then I clicked on the link, turned to DP and said 'um, can I spend £80 on an advent calendar for myself?'

YADNBU Grin

Well, even my DC, well DS at any rate, have said - if you add up how much that chocolate weighs in that calendar, it's the equivalent of about three squares. We could mark the days of the calendar and you could keep some bars in the fridge and we could have a whole square every day for less. Well trained children I have you know - but it's not so much fun and they know it.

cakeoclock · 01/10/2011 21:01

No I agree the calendar is great and a great gift because you don't know what is inside unless you buy it. Your mum will love it!

carabos · 01/10/2011 22:48

Sorry, can't read a thread that has "£80" and "Advent calendar" in the title. Advent calendars should be made of over-decorated cardboard, contain cheap chocolates and cost £2.99 max. Grin

A1980 · 02/10/2011 00:33

£80 for a few minatures?! Many of which you may never use?

Go and spend £80 on full size cosmetics rather than that shite.

glastocat · 02/10/2011 00:54

Want!

MrsBloomingTroll · 02/10/2011 04:52

Thank you thank you thank you!

I wanted one of these last year soooo badly but they sold out and I couldn't get one anywhere. Not even on eBay.

Have just seen your thread whilst on my nightly prowl through MN (small baby, night feeds) and have just ordered mine. Thank you so much for posting this!

YADNBU! Buy one quickly before they sell out.

MrsBloomingTroll · 02/10/2011 04:55

BTW, if we're doing advent calendar porn then L'Artisan du Chocolat's chocolate advent calendar last year was amaaaaaazing, definitely not one for the kids.

And Biscuiteers, biscuit calendar.

Can't find the links online.

PerryCombover · 02/10/2011 05:05

oh my

ditavonteesed · 02/10/2011 07:47

ToothlesstheDragon omg now that I want, can you imagine how nice the house would smell. bet dh would buy me that as well you know. mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Triggles · 02/10/2011 08:30

It's not something I'd buy, but I can see where someone else might like it.

If you can afford it, why not? personally I'd rather have chocolate. Grin
