I know I am, but I really really really really want it

Would it make any difference if I told you I was 46 and have never had an advent calender?

frankincense and myrrh? Wink

makachu · 01/10/2011 14:07

But you already know what's in it! Number 1 point of advent calenders is the surprise :(

WakeMeUpWhenSeptemberEnds · 01/10/2011 14:09

Myrrh. In my defence I usually see if spelt the welsh way. Ahem.

Anyway. Both used as perfume, oils and kohl. So this advent calender is far more in the true spirit of christmas than chocolate.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/10/2011 14:11

Mine is ordered... so excited! It's not going to last until the end of October, never mind Christmas.

catgirl1976 · 01/10/2011 14:23

Oh god its gorgeous......now I want one. But I bet there is no way I could only open one door each day or even wait to December...............its so lovely.......
...........

catgirl1976 · 01/10/2011 14:24

OMG - Just seen the crackers

here

aldiwhore · 01/10/2011 14:26

Of course if you're crafty and crafty you could make your own, trwal the shops for 24 free samples (and wear a disguise), then bastardise and decorate a cereal box (wrapping/wall paper and lots of shinies).

I'm a bugger for doing things on the cheap though and have to admit if I HAD £80 to spend on me, I'd definitely not put the effort in to making one. Smile

catgirl1976 · 01/10/2011 14:27

Ladies - if you were looking for justification for buy this advent calender - try this:

"At least I didn't spend £300 on a pair of false eyelashes

THAT would have been foolish and self-indulgent. This is actually a sensible purchase in comparision and I have displayed admirable restraint and budget awareness"

ChippingIn · 01/10/2011 14:28

How boring to already know what is in it!!

I'd rather have a nice chocolate one Grin

But if it floats your boat and you aren't on the breadline - then why not?

aldiwhore · 01/10/2011 14:29

drools and wonders how I could make those eyelashes on the cheap... looks through craft box, then at the huge amount of spiders in the house and has a grim but thrifty lightbulb moment...

MadameCastafiore · 01/10/2011 14:30

It's like the shit you get in their bonus offers multiplied - that shit I throw away after a year of it sitting at the bottom of a drawer so I wouldn't buy one.

catgirl1976 · 01/10/2011 14:31

hugely impressed with your resourcefulness there aldi :)

WakeMeUpWhenSeptemberEnds · 01/10/2011 14:32

I probably actuallly have 24 mini samples that came as free -with - purchases that I don't use due to wrong colour / skin type etc but it's a fab idea to get mini treats from boots and create a customised advent calender.

Dialsmavis · 01/10/2011 14:32

God, I want those crackers so badly....

lec0rnsillk · 01/10/2011 14:35

I want one Envy

ditavonteesed · 01/10/2011 14:36

oooooooooooooo I really want that, which is weird since I dont know what any of the stuff in it even is. dh says we can make me one of my own with stuff that I actually want from lush and stuff. Now to decide what to put in it.

ColdSancerre · 01/10/2011 15:49

I'm normally as shallow as the next woman when it comes to such things, but I look at that and think '£80 for free samples'. One or the gifts is 3ml of perfume, suspiciously nasty sounding perfume at that. That's not even a teaspoon.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 01/10/2011 16:01

Liliput sizes - they'll look good in a dolls' house.

None of those brands are my favourites but, even if they were, I'd rather spend £80 on one or two full size products that would last way beyond Christmas.

Still, each to their own - especially during the season of goodwill to all wo/men.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 01/10/2011 16:18

I'll shortly receive 7 desirable items to put in my advent calendar as your post reminded me to check out qvc's 'today's special value' which is a Leighton Denny collection.

The petrol and mauve nail colours are to die for as is the crystal nail file and the cost of those 3 items alone equates to the c£30 + p&p that I've just paid.

coccyx · 01/10/2011 16:23

Very naughty.
Whats wrong with a chocolate selection stocking from poundstretcher?
Enjoy Wink

PeelThemWithTheirMetalKnives · 01/10/2011 19:58

Are there actually LITTLE DOORS to open? If so, YANBU!

madmomma · 01/10/2011 20:01

I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnttttttttt! Get it and enjoy it for me too. Fabulous!

Laquitar · 01/10/2011 20:06

I thought will be lux chocolates and then i got dissapointed that it was the Lancome. How sad and unfeminine this makes me?

HandMini · 01/10/2011 20:14

No, I don't get it at all.

I hate those little sample size bottles - they always just get chucked in a drawer and not used.

You'd get the same products from a walk round the beauty counters of a couple of department stores on a slow Tuesday afternoon.

I'd rather spend the 80 quid on one or two full size products.

ToothlesstheDragon · 01/10/2011 20:17

ditavonteesed heres something for you here £5 more expensive but oh gods i want it
