AIBU about selfish arseholes parking on zigzag lines in front of school?

WHY do folk do this? Why do they do it even though there are endless signs around saying not to do it? How unspeakably stupid and selfish can a person be. Yesterday at my dds school there were about 9 cars top to tail on the zig zags. Happily, parking attendant zipped up and ticketed several.

Has any one successfully managed through the school or other means to get people to think about the safety of their own kids and others?

Grinding my teeth

I have seen a family load their kids into the car, then drive them directly across the road (which had a crossing 20 yards away), stop on the school's drive, across the entire pavement, unload the kids and reverse back across the road. They then went back into their house!
I was cycling to work so had time to witness the whole thing, I doubt I would have believed that people could be that lazy and inconsiderate had I not seen it with my own eyes. It was a secondary school too.

There's double yellows outside my DSs school and the school next door (same strip of road)

Both schools are going for a 'green flag' (not sure if there are similar about in Britain www.greenschoolsireland.org/Index.aspx?Site_ID=1&Item_ID=28)

Anyway both schools are trying to get the travel one this year so have made a massive push on parking and not driving to school etc

So one of the schools got go peed off with the arrogant selfish folks that kept parking on the double yellows that they put up cones and yellow tape between then so no one could park there (there is parking in all other parts of the road bar the drive ways)

I watch with great entertainment as one of the mums have a total knicker fit at the school secretary when because

'you're not allowed to put the cones there. How dare you!!! What am I supposed to do? I've children to collect!!!'

Most amushingly she was screaming this from directly across the road where her car was in a parking spot.

It always amuses me when people going to the gym park as close as possible (in disabled spaces if necessary) to the door.

Ooh, yes. that's another grrrr moment. And the dinky little sports cars in the P and C spaces.
