To be envious that my neighbour lives in a council house........

and pays £600 a month less than me for the exact same bloody house (her's is nicer inside) next door to mine?

Difference is hers is a council house, mine is a private rental. The owner of mine bought it from the council and now rents it out while he lives in a 4 bed detached house in a nicer part of town. We pay £950 a month, neighbour pays council £350 a month (3 bed terrace). We had to move here after selling our house last year because DH lost his job and we needed to release the small amount of equity we had to pay the bills we were behind on because we were terrified of being in debt. Our rent is now £150 a month higher than our mortgage was.

We struggle every bloody month and live on 'value' food. We are not entitled to housing benefit (DH now working again after a year, I work part time - 3DCs). Neighbour's DH is an accountant so she can afford not to work at all. That £600 would make a massive difference in our lives but we have not got a chance in hell of getting a council house. There are over 5000 people on the waiting list in my area. We are on the list but have been told that it could be over 5 years before we have a chance. Love my neighbour to bits but can't help feeling pissed off about it!

AIBU to think that this is bloody unfair?

I have been trying to accumulate swearwords for a blow up I can see coming in RL (if In swear enough in private it's ;ess likely to get OTT though words are needed)

My fave for today is ratwanker, also used in the form of go wank a rat

It makes me smile anyway which is the aim really

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:31

Unfortunate X post.

CupOfBrownJoy · 28/09/2011 20:32

thefirstMrsDeVere · 28/09/2011 20:33

First deleted post.

Sorry MNHQ for the extra work.

But sometimes only certain words will do.

I particularly dislike people who accuse others of using their disabiity to jump the queue and flaunt their kids with SN around the place to get free housing.

It is very bitchy.

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:34

Would it be juvenile of mew to high five you US?

bugger think I just did it Wink

Flamingredhead · 28/09/2011 20:34

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:36

Didn;t know they were ever not, is there a story tehre?

Driftwood999 · 28/09/2011 20:37

If the neighbour with the council house/low rent has a change in circumstances, i.e. an increase in income, is that not reviewed re: their eligibility for the property? Otherwise a millionaire could hold onto a council property. Sorry if this has been covered already.

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:38

Doesn't take much to be deleted nowadays does it?

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:39

Driftwood that used to be the case (established when LA housing was mainly occupied by people in work and most people lived there unless fairly well off and buying) but is changingnow and unless extreme extenuating circs such as Flame then there is a 5 year review built in to new tenancies

AuntieMoanica · 28/09/2011 20:40

was that when all this was fields, Peachy?

before they built a big fucking ugly new private housing complex, the land for which had been refused permission for a travellers site to be set up on?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 28/09/2011 20:42

They were down all weekend getting a server update.

There are currently at least 4 of these type of threads running over there.

I dip in and out but it has really started to depress me over there so i am staying away now.

(they do have an ignore poster function which is fab though)

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:43

PeachyWhoCannotType · 28/09/2011 20:44

Ah MrsDV

tell them that I don't have a council house but if I did, or if they want our free school trnasport, then if they invent a method that transports the boy's Sn into tehir children and would accept that as a deal I will gladly accept

Course they woudl be a scary psycho to do so but heck

crazynanna · 28/09/2011 20:51
