Feel like a loser!Been learning to drive since DS1 was 6months old and now he's 3Blush.I also have ds2 who is now over 1yr!
I have gone through 3 instructors and from manual to automatic.
Just failed my second test todaySad
I'm ok going from a to b but in my test I was all over the place on the huge roundabouts, other drivers stopping infront didn't know what to do and how to position myself in horrible situations etc!
Will it ever come natural?Everyone says it does so why has it taken this long?
Are some people just not 'natural drivers' or does everyone have the potential and just take a little while longer?
Just booked my 3rd test for 2 weeks time!
Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated!ThanksSmile
Jimmy

I am a natural driver [smug]. I was very fortunate, I passed my manual driving licence about 30 years ago, long before all the theory stuff came out.
I would agree that you need to practice driving in every day situations. If you have access to a car, get some L plates on, rope a qualified driver in and do it.
Good luck.

I looked online and found descriptions of the local test routes. I practised those like mad and it gave me loads of confidence.

MoreBeta - I am the same - passed my test first time, but HATE driving with a passion.

I always have that niggling feeling in the back of my head that I could kill someone... not a good frame of mind to be driving with so I don't.

We walk/cycle/use buses and taxis. Hubby drives for the trips to parents etc, but generally day to day don't need a car - we have saved a lot by not having a second one, so MoreBeta -you must save a bomb not having one at all..

Thankyou so much for all the replies! You've all given me so much appreciated advice!
I'm going to the drs to ask for the medication some of you have mentioned.
Also going to study the highway code as another poster kindly mentioned.
Are car is a manual at the moment so unfortunately can't practice with DH!
Andrew-I don't mind being a 'half-driver' much prefer that to a non-driver!
You've given me lots of hope with your experiences. Also to those who are still learning good luck too!I'll probablybe writing on gransnet before I've passedGrin

Learn with a manual & don't give up. It took me loads of tests but as a single mum of 3 I am so glad I persevered. I still don't like driving but have to do it all now!!

I passed on my 6th attempt. Took me a couple of years too.

It was all down to nerves during the test. I would get so nervous I would do something I never usually did and fail for it. On my sixth test, I did something that I thought had failed me, so in my head the pressure was off and I drove fine after that. Aparently whatever it was I did was not a fail, so I passed!
