to wonder if posters on here would refer to Islam as "a load of old tosh"..

...in the same way that they think it is acceptable to ridicule Christianity. If a poster had started a thread about considering joining a mosque I wonder how many people would be prepared to post that Muslims were a bunch of bigoted fools due to their religious belief on homosexuality ? Or that a Hindu's beliefs were, to quote " a load of old tosh" ? If you don't think that would be alright to post, it's not alright to post it about Christianity either.

Oh no. Not "dimwit! Actually this person called a dimwit has used nearly every statement I have made to attack me. In two threads.

I think Ive been very patient and dimwit is quite polite

Im getting to the stage where I just had enough

Hullygully · 22/09/2011 19:12

Go on cocoflower, attacjk them all!

ThePosieParker · 22/09/2011 19:14

But Coco this is what happens when you post something stupid and then claim personal attacks when people disagree with you....

You are getting tied up with your own words.

Empjusa · 22/09/2011 19:15

I'd say calling singling someone out and calling them vile when they haven't said anything directly to you in a thread isn't exactly charming behaviour..

Greensleeves · 22/09/2011 19:16

lol at "dimwit is quite polite"

"tosser" is pretty mild too IMO, under the circumstances

don't dish it out if you can't take it...

madhairday · 22/09/2011 19:17

Really, I don't see a problem with people calling religion a load of old tosh etc - everyone is entitled to their own opinions. The only times I've let myself get a little riled is with personal attacks, but I have to say they've been few and far between - there's often the whole generic 'all Christians are ignorant brainwashed fools' thing but it's very rare that I myself have experienced a nasty attack. It has happened though, but that's not enough for me to feel that everyone on MN is a Christian-basher etc.

I'm sad to read some of this stuff though, particularly the comments about Christians people have met being narrow minded and mean. It's not always the case, or usually ime, but I guess it just reflects people in general. Takes all sorts.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:17

Oh so stupid now too. Nice one, Keep going Posie, keep posting.

Sigh

Greensleeves · 22/09/2011 19:19

ah - yep, there's that other cheek Wink

Tortington · 22/09/2011 19:19

Empjusa · 22/09/2011 19:19

"weird jingly bell clad bollockses"

Thanks for that image! lol

Greensleeves · 22/09/2011 19:20

and catholics are guilt-ridden magical-thinking joyless fruitcakes

worraliberty · 22/09/2011 19:20

Cocoflower I was just reading the argument you're having on the alcohol thread at the same time as the row on here.

Perhaps it's time to take a deep breath and switch off for a little while?

Really, getting angry with people on the internet is a waste of energy.

fatlazymummy · 22/09/2011 19:21

cocoflower people are disagreeing with the things that you post, not attacking you personally. If you can't handle your posts being discussed, possibly disagreed with, then don't post. That is the whole point of a forum.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:25

No they are not

They reading things into posts I never said, they are making absolute rubbish up about things I never said. Even if someone vaugley agrees with me someone steps in to say "no your totally wrong no one agrees" which is very unfair

Disagree all you want with me; just dont pretend I meant things I didnt or wrote things I never wrote or start askinf me if Im a tosser.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:26

Anyway this is not a thread about me

You know what they say custardo about morris dancers?

Try anything in life but incest, heroine and morris dancing....

Bad form to drag stuff from other threads. It really isn't the done thing.

For example I could be quite happily arguing with someone on a political thread and then laughing away with them on a thread about wank socks or something.

Well, that was the way MN used to be anyway.

Hullygully · 22/09/2011 19:35

I'm feeling a strong urge to defend Coco because she's on her own here, but I'm struggling with the grounds.

Coco, please don't get upset. None of it matters really.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:38

Thank you hully

Yes its bad form the fact is if people are insuiting what your suggesting is fabricated what else can you do?

Besides I have not linked to a thread, merely pointed out I was asked if I was a tosser amongst other things.

seeker · 22/09/2011 19:40

Cocoflower, please cut and paste any personal
Attacks that have been aimed at you. Because I can't see any!

ThePosieParker · 22/09/2011 19:40

I asked if you were Naddine Tossface Dorres.... Not if you masturbated.

TheFallenMadonna · 22/09/2011 19:43

Oh good Lord. Threads like this are pointless and counterproductive. They make me cross and I am christian (well, Catholic!) myself.

They make Christians sound like a bunch of whingers who want special treatment. And I am not and do not.

Grrr.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:44

No seeker. Now that suggestion is bad form

ShirelyKnottage · 22/09/2011 19:46

But coco - you and I had a vicious spat once about benefits I think it was (let's not go there) and we have also been on light hearted fun threads as well.

Do you know what I mean? When I get really frothy and angry about something on MN I hide the thread and bugger off to something fun in chat or switch off for a bit. There's a reason arguments/debates are contained within one thread.

Cocoflower · 22/09/2011 19:47

I don't want special treatment

Just normal, respectful, mature and balanced conversations for everyone. Not just me, not just Christians, but everyone from all beliefs and non.
