dd normally has trousers from new look but they tend to go bobbly.
so she said her friends were all wearing miss Sexy trousers. they were quite cheap.
the school allows bootleg but not lycra or denim, usual story i imagine.
i read in the newspaper at the beginning of the month about a school that had banned miss Sexy trousers and now DD and others are being hauled out of the classroom and told to buy new trousers. Hmm

i have said not until october half term.
she has only had them since June or so

I don't know (or like the name) Miss Sexy, but YANBU if your school hadn't said anything. If your school had issued guidance about these, then YABU.

squeakytoy · 14/09/2011 10:04

The school has a fair point. Those trousers are skin tight hipsters. Not suitable school trousers for a child at all. Even the name of the brand would be enough to make me think these are not "schoolwear".

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:06

perhaps it depends on your figure.
they dont look tight on dd Confused

they allow bootleg. she has cut the label off.

Having seen the picture, they aren't too bad. Not keen on al lthe buttons, but my 10.4 DD is wearing pull up trousers so no buttons to negociate.
Those do seem a little low in the waist. Is underwear visible?

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:06

no, her underwear isnt visible.

Gd has these (to fit in with mates etc, like they do). They are not sandalous, wash well, are cheap etc. I just wish they were called something else but hey ho, could be worse. I don't think it's reasonable for the school to ban them, and if they do they need to give reasons, and notice. Could you get rid of the visible label?

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:08

exactly older.
have your gd's school banned them?

OP posts:
Ormirian · 14/09/2011 10:08

But they are hipsters. How do you tuck a school shirt into those?

olderyetwider · 14/09/2011 10:10

No, not banned, they recommend them to the teeny skirt brigade Smile

My dd has them but I don't like the name of them, and tbh they are pretty rubbish quality for the price and don't last well.

The school should have made it known they were banned, but my dd's old school did the same.

I've found similar ones better quality and without the dodgy name in Matalan and also Asda

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:11

so what should i buy if i have to for her?

AtYourCervix · 14/09/2011 10:11

The DDs school banned these a couple of years ago. On most children they are too tight. However at the time DD was going through a non-eating phase and they were the only trousers (in a fabric acceptable to DD) which didn't need braces to keep up. Thankfully now she eats more crap and is able to wear trousers without a name which makes me feel nauseous.

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:12

cross posts with lubey - thanks Smile

think dd might turn her nose up but we will give it a go

sainsburys do plain black trousers, with a bootcut fit, for about £8.

GloriaVanderbilt · 14/09/2011 10:13

Sorry but it makes me feel ill to see those being sold as children's clothes with a label like 'miss sexy'

I think it's grim, sorry

how old are these children? I trust it's secondary.

I wouldn't have bought them because I object to the sexualisation of young girls but then if all her friends are wearing them it probably didn't occur to you. And maybe it seems harmless.

But I think it wasn't a wise decision to buy them...school is unreasonable to change the rules mid term though

lubeybooby · 14/09/2011 10:15

Oh, in the womens section btw not the kids, Matalan has a 29 leg or 31. Asda was also the womens section. New look also good but think you already tried there.

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2011 10:15

Wouldn't be allowed at my school, they look too tight and trendy.

Hullygully · 14/09/2011 10:16

Al schools are mad when it comes to uniform. Fact.

AtYourCervix · 14/09/2011 10:16

Actually thinking about it the ones DD had weren't the Miss Sexy ones. They were a similar shape though. When a teacher hauled her out of Assembly and told her they were Miss Sexy ones I sent an absolutely livid email to the school accusing them of sexualising my 11 year old.

slartybartfast · 14/09/2011 10:16

but really they should have told us back in June at least.
i know there was an issue with trousers but the miss sexy brand were never mentioned Angry
