... to tell my friend she's mental?

MrsSchue · 14/09/2011 01:10

I've just watched her finish a packet of crisps and then carefully pop the empty packet into her bra.

When I queried this, she tells me 'she always puts her rubbish in her bra'....

Confused

I did a double take when I saw the title but that's only because I knew it would get a reaction. I am sure that the OP meant it in the way she intended (does that even make sense) and not in an offensive way.

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 15:08

PMSL at fucknuggets quiche - is that like chicken nuggets only a bit saltier? Wink

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 14/09/2011 15:10

"It's used to describe someone doing something inexplicably daft."

Yeah I get that.

I love the term fucknugget! Never heard that before. Genius!

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 15:24

There's a fucknuggets quiche??!

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 15:28

You wanna be in it too, Coolwhip? I think you probably qualify Grin

WineAndPizza · 14/09/2011 15:32

You fucking weirdos!! How do you fit all this stuff in your bra? Doesn't it make you look like you have bizarre chunky boobs? Do you buy bigger sizes on purpose so that you can fit more stuff in? I've never heard the like

On another note, I want to be in the fucknugget quiche.

MrsSchue · 14/09/2011 15:34

I've unflounced briefly to say that it WASN'T a case of 'Oh, I didn't think', which is why I didn't apologise. It's absolutely a case of being sick and tired of having to avoid half the words in the English sodding language simply because someone might get offended on someone else's behalf.

I am well aware of the dictionary definition of the word. I said that I would never use it in that way, meaning that i would not level the word 'mental' as an insult to someone who was, actually, in reality, mentally ill. I would in fact be very careful not to use any language to someone which would cause offence to them.

My friend, the bra-stuffing one, is not mentally ill - she's just 'mental'. Crazy, bonkers, a loon, inexplicably daft, silly, ridiculous, whatever. She wasn't offended by the term, and anyone with an actual mental illness probably wouldn't be offended by my using it about her. They might, possibly, be offended by my using it about them - which is why I wouldn't.

Political fecking correctness gone mad. I really am, now flouncing, forever - because the 'do-rights' on MN are so far up their own feckin' arses that it drives me MENTAL.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 15:38

Shouldn't that be in Flouncers Corner?

lazymumofteenagesons · 14/09/2011 15:43

I only looked at this thread to see the reaction to the use of the word 'mental'. But now I'm here, why do people with big boobs have more space in their bras for various goods. On the small side here and I can't work this one out. either it fits or it doesn't.

mankymink · 14/09/2011 15:46

You know I couldn't wait to post on this thread. And then... oh well.

hazeyjane · 14/09/2011 15:48

Yes me too, it just seems an odd word to use, when so many other ones do the job just as well.

As for the boob storage, I use my cleavage as a bottle warmer, a small bottle of toddler milk just fits down there nicely.

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 15:49

lazymum - I wondered that as well! but then I thought it was just jammed down the cleavage, until someone said they put it down the side, so I'm still Confused

Tianc · 14/09/2011 15:50

Perfectly lovely alternative bra storage thread!

QOD · 14/09/2011 15:51

I keep EVERYTHING in my bra. Key, phone, ipod and some sweets (sugar free) plus odd bits of money and yes, sweetie wrappers too.

Usually I empty it when I get home, sometimes things are still stuck to me when I get undressed ....

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 14/09/2011 16:50

Yeah, I've been mentally ill (am pretty much recovered now but am aware I might relapse) and I am not offended by it. I am not offended by much really, although I do hate ginger hair bashing and I don't even have ginger hair.

hazeyjane it just seems an odd word to use, when so many other ones do the job just as well. -

I find that it's something that people say in real life and no one takes offence/bats an eyelid, but on here . . . I don't know, are forums more PC then the real world?

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 16:57

Tis currently a Hot Topic, Eyebrows - a few threads about it on the go currently and recently. Not this word alone but general attitudes to certain sections of the population and words relating to them and their conditions, being bandied around unchallenged, while racist and homophobic terms are deleted promptly.

KeepInMind · 14/09/2011 17:00

Mad as a box of frogs, does she have any frogs in there???

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/09/2011 17:05

Ive just started the fucknuggets quiche Grin

WhoseGotMyEyebrows plenty of people probably aren't offended by 'mental'. Several members of my close family are bipolar and while I did raise an eyebrow (not one of yours) I'm not that offended personally, but given the current climate it only seems fair to be extra sensitive to the MNers who are hurt by words like that.

SayCool, I've been saying CoolWhip over and over and I don't get it...

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 17:07

CoolWhip is some vile apology for cream made out of vegetable oil and used in American recipes a lot. Apparently it keeps its shape for 12 days if left in a bowl.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 17:10

Empress - it's a Family Guy reference. if you're interested.

Where's the new quiche? :o

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 17:18

coolwhip experiment Shock

Can't find the new quiche - linky please Empress?

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 14/09/2011 17:21

Thumbwitch Tis currently a Hot Topic -

What is? The mental thing or the ginger thing?

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans - I am now totally convinced you have one of my eyebrows!

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/09/2011 17:22

Thanks SayCool and Thumbwitch Smile

Can't do linkies on my phone but I've just started a thread in Chat.

IreneHeron · 14/09/2011 17:26

I've been known to keep tissues in my bra, occasionally my phone although not often (in case the cancer scare stories are true), lipstick, lip balm, tampons. Never banana skins or crisp packets though.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/09/2011 17:26

Eyebrows - can I keep it? Please?
