... to tell my friend she's mental?

I've just watched her finish a packet of crisps and then carefully pop the empty packet into her bra.

When I queried this, she tells me 'she always puts her rubbish in her bra'....

Confused

Isn't this why they invented pockets / bins? (delete as appropriate)

itisnearlysummer · 14/09/2011 09:08

How does the stuff fit in? In cleavage? Under boob? Outer boob (towards armpit)?

I don't understand!

These must be mighty big boobs we're talking about. Mine are a D and I'm not sure I'd fit anything other than boobs in my bra!

Tianc · 14/09/2011 09:15

Agree with Thumbwitch. This is a total aside and I wouldn't want to derail a fun thread, but maybe pick a different, obviously jokey word next time? Not "mental", which has a real meaning.

Ta.

FeelingOld · 14/09/2011 09:15

I must admit that if i haven't got any pockets or if my pockets are not very deep i put my mobile in my bra, i shove it between my boobs (have to confess i am well endowed Grin) wouldn't shove rubbish in there though.

cornflowers · 14/09/2011 09:17

When I was (much!) younger & a smoker, I used to stash a cigarette lighter in my bra sometimes.

Isn't this like the ravish discussion on t'other thread?

All getting a bit too uptight atm methinks...

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 10:37

MRsSchue - how you meant it is utterly irrelevant to the people it could upset. The fact that you don't give a toss about the people you could upset (I am not one of them, btw) says more about you than them. If that means one less couldn't-care-less person frequents the boards then perhaps it's not a bad thing, I think. Sorry you'd rather piss off elsewhere rather than take more account of other people's feelings but that's your choice.

Icelollycraving · 14/09/2011 10:38

I keep my phone in my bra. When I was at work (on mat leave at mo) any notes or memos to remind me went in there as well. I do have big boobs so plenty of room!

CroissantNeuf · 14/09/2011 10:39

I keep reading on MN about people stashing things in their bra.

Am I abnormal in that I only keep my norks in mine?

I put my lip balm in mine if I have no pockets, goes all warm and squishy though!

It's better to temporarily store the rubbish in the bra than litter. She can put it in the nearest bin when she walks past it. She's not mental!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 14/09/2011 11:04

Did she not rustle when she moved??

Tianc · 14/09/2011 11:26

OK, really sorry because I don't like to derail funny threads. But just for once.

"I wouldn't USE the word mental to describe someone with psychiatric imbalances"?

Er, what?

Mentally ill is precisely the correct term to describe this. Look at the MN topics: "mental health", one says.

So you've taken what could be a perfectly neutral word, that is inescapably used to refer to mental illness, and declared, "Oh, I don't use it to mean mental illness, I just use it as an insult." So that's all right then.

And the only person getting aerated here is MrsShue. Who is so upset at even being asked nicely to think about whether she's inadvertently contributed to a problem, that she name-calls and flounces.

God, I hate and loathe getting into this territory on fun threads, because I like to relax and mess around too. But MrsShue's response has tipped this from, "Oh yeah, I didn't think" to something else entirely.

Sorry. As you were.

Tianc · 14/09/2011 11:29

And btw, I'll happily use "bonkers", "loon", "nuts" - all the other words that genuinely are "used to describe someone doing something inexplicably daft".

Because they don't have an inescapable other meaning that appears on employment applications, medical and police records, etc.

SnakeOnCrack · 14/09/2011 12:09

Getting back on point..

I keep stuff in my bra (to the side, not down the cleavage) if I've not got pockets, usually just my oyster card and my phone though, not rubbish! YUK! And yes, I've got bigguns.

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 12:33

Do any of you have embarrassing moments though, when you go back to a bloke's place (or your own) and in the heat of the moment, flinging your clothes off, there is a sudden cascade of crap money, cards, phones, makeup, combs, spare knickers or whatever out of your bra?

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 14/09/2011 12:36

Handy place to keep a condom though Thumbwitch Wink

'Here's one I packed earlier!'
HOW impressed would the man be?!

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2011 12:38

Depends whether it's in with a crumpled snotrag, empty crisp packet and Rizlas, I suppose! Grin But yes, he'd probably not even notice the rest and just go "wow!"

SnakeOnCrack · 14/09/2011 12:50

Haha, I've had a few raised eyebrows when my bra rings, but I think most people think it's fairly practical.. (she says hopefully..).

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 14/09/2011 13:02

I don't think 'mental' is ok in this context either. I can see MrsSchue wasn't trying to offend and that's fine but surely the polite thing to do when called on something like that is to acknowledge it and agree not to use the word again?
