I lurk a bit at work ( prenteding to be busy, saves me making the tea ) and have started the odd thread here and there seeking advice, BuT my god I feel sorry for the posters who are on here day in day out for hours.
I know some people are socially isolated and I'm sure they get a lot from mumsnet, but it is rather sad when it becomes your main source of adult interaction, and by choice for many I imagin. I know mumsnet has one million members, but it's always the same names coming up in active conversations. These forums should be a place where you drop into now and then, not somewhere you rely on for friendship.

AIBU ?

Hahaha

Dogdogdogamish

I misread that didn't I ?

Niecie · 09/09/2011 16:15

It's the lurkers I worry about. The posters, prolific or otherwise, are real people interacting with other people, having conversation albeit on line - what's to worry about? Who said relationships had be face to face?

But lurkers, living their lives vicariously through the random musings of a bunch of strangers on the screen. What are they all about?

Why don't you just post and join in then you too could annoy the OP! Take no notice of her and her 'forums should be a place where you drop into now and then..' There is no 'should' about it unless there is a book of rules somebody forgot to show me.

giyadas · 09/09/2011 16:18

I have to visit RL this evening. Sad
pity me.

Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 16:19

Erm the ops description of RL friendship and blood pumping has scared me. quite a lot. I have just been out chatting to several friends there was no blood pumping or need to impress, it was just you know, a chat.

madamarcati · 09/09/2011 16:22

No I feel jealous!

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 16:25

YY honeydragon. that is odd. Explains OP's popularity though, if her idea of making friends involves all those eyemeets and blood pumping.

NarkyPuffinLovesDiane · 09/09/2011 16:27

Maybe she donates blood a lot?

NarkyPuffinLovesDiane · 09/09/2011 16:27

You do get a free Biscuit

SarahStratton · 09/09/2011 16:33

What Psammy, LeQ and Honeydragon said. Plus I am a cunt and a bjtch and have no RL friends. Or anything to do. I just sit at home on my fat arse, drinking coffee, scoffing cake and MNing.

Because I have nothing better to do.

Bet you're jealous really. Grin

KatieScarlett2833 · 09/09/2011 16:34

Jesus, 10 pages of OP telling us how popular she is in RL?

Someone's got isshooos....

And who are the popular girls? They sound like my kinda gals Wink

SarahStratton · 09/09/2011 16:35

I loves you KatieScarlett :)

KatieScarlett2833 · 09/09/2011 16:37

Love ya right back Grin

Fuck, OP is gonna hate that.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 09/09/2011 16:38

OMG I just realised - OP is a zombie. Shock

Tortington · 09/09/2011 16:39

I THINK mumsnet is a crutch for those people who say that they advocate benign neglect methods of parenting and anyone who is well known on here has probably neglecteed their children

Hmm Grin

madam52 · 09/09/2011 16:40

What ? There is a parallel universe out there called RL ?

KatieScarlett2833 · 09/09/2011 16:40

Mine are very neglected, they seem to like it tho Grin
