AIBU?

To hate the cliquey vomit-inducing threads on MN?

Because they put me right off the whole of MN Sad.

Maybe it's because I don't generally use MN for 'chatting'; more for getting advice and opinions on parenting issues, health issues, etc (have namechanged btw as am a longstanding and cowardly MNer). But I do click on 'most active' when I come on here to see what's going on, and the clique arse-kissing and 'in' jokes between some MNers make me cringe and really put me off the site. It's like the school playground mum cliques but worse - because at least there the people really do know each other.

And yes I know threads about a thread are against MN rules blah blah but I wanted to moan about and am happy to be slated for doing so - so there Grin

I just think some MNers should get over themselves and go off and start a new 'love-in' site somewhere else. The End.

YA SOOOOO NBU its shit. I go off that thread. There was one I remember where someone posted in relationships about her problems with her husband, and people started offering help and advice including muggings me, and then it soon became obvious that a lot of people on the thread already knew the person involved through Face Book and real life. So details kept being dropped halfway through the 'conversation' that only they and the O.P. already knew. I kept thinking why the hell post on an open forum why not just stick to bloody FB or at the very least CHAT section?

I'm not jealous or anything though...

Mutant - ' there is still time' sounds like a threat or a bucket list style challenge.
Get shagged in the ear before they cart you off. And see Niagra Falls. And skinny dip in the red sea....

Doesn't bother me. I have been on here for 6 years (never a prolific poster though) and there have been many different "Mumsnet Royalties", some people are on here a lot and post a lot and get well known. They are no better than you or I and doubt they think they are. The fawning over them is all tongue in cheek I have always presumed.

I understand what you mean about that Abs. I've been lurking more than usual (and also not bothering as much at all on anywhere other than bloggers/parties) because the proportion of cunts to not-cunts has really tipped over into the cunts favour.

I thought it was just the usual summer bullshit but I'm not so sure.

what the fuck's a wolef?

I once had a thread title with my name in it. I felt special happy. But I was some-one else then.

Maybe we should re-open hte cafe and bar and if your name's not dwon you're not coming in they would be open to all.

how exactly would one go about shagging some-one's ear?

Nothing bothers me at all on here. This is a bit of respite from all the shite that DOES irritate me.

I think people could be kinder somtimes, but it's a public forum, people have been hurt in life, they're anon on here, can say whet the hell they like and not be found out, it makes them feel better, that will never stop.

On a more serious note, there are definite good sides to the "cliques". I know when my doctor told me my pregnancy might be ectopic, the support I got from the wolefs was amazing. It's not all in jokes and silliness, there's some real friendship there.

I have no idea what a wolef is or was or why fleece may be involved. Somehow my use of MN both for serious posting and talking shite is unaffected.

If you want to join in with a conversation, join in but don't stand on the sidelines gripi ng about it.

I forgot about that. That was the only ever thread with my name in the title and it was about Dallas. It was awesome.

What did happen to IPOAT? (not to be confused with POAS).
