To hate the cliquey vomit-inducing threads on MN?

Because they put me right off the whole of MN Sad.

Maybe it's because I don't generally use MN for 'chatting'; more for getting advice and opinions on parenting issues, health issues, etc (have namechanged btw as am a longstanding and cowardly MNer). But I do click on 'most active' when I come on here to see what's going on, and the clique arse-kissing and 'in' jokes between some MNers make me cringe and really put me off the site. It's like the school playground mum cliques but worse - because at least there the people really do know each other.

And yes I know threads about a thread are against MN rules blah blah but I wanted to moan about and am happy to be slated for doing so - so there Grin

I just think some MNers should get over themselves and go off and start a new 'love-in' site somewhere else. The End.

wow, really? a load of pms from ppl thinking they'll get jumped on for having an opinion on a hidden quiche? thats a bit :( tbh, i really feel for you op and those who pm'd you.

as has been pointed out repeatedly throughout the day, our quiche is hidden so to be offended/irratated by it you would need to look for it.

kind of adds to the sadness i feel for you all.

SpringHeeledJack · 08/09/2011 16:46

I can't really understand, if you use mn for other stuff, why you'd really be that bothered

it gets on my tits a bit sometimes, but only in the way rl people having a laugh together gets on my tits. I'm just being a sourpuss.

I come in here for a laugh every now and then, and I (nearly) always find one. Yesterday was Kirstie Allsop being "the Plimsoll Line of fat". Oh, and the shake n' bake one

I larffed

...and I do find it odd that people won't say on the thread that it gets on their tits, and have to PM you instead. No-one's really frightened of some unknown entities on tinternet, are they?

are they??

SuePurblybilt · 08/09/2011 16:47

I loves Maryz AND Pag AND Beer AND Shirley and they are not quichey. Or indeed have any idea who I am Grin.
All this hating is very sad

To answer Rhubarb's question, a snark is not a duck, but it may be a Boojum.

TheRhubarb · 08/09/2011 16:47

Hamsterz if you kept your original name I don't think anyone would criticise you for saying how you feel? I understand about the MN Police, but trust me that those people ARE in a minority. I'm a long standing poster too as is Hully and Custy and countless others and all of us have been targeted/still are targeted by grudge bearing posters with too much time on their hands.

However that is entirely separate from posters who may or may not know each other but who have a laugh and try to 'out-disgust' each other. That has always been a part of Mumsnet ever since I've been a member and it provides some much needed relief from the seriousness of life. You don't have to know everyone who are talking utter nonsense, you just gatecrash like I did and off you go. Nobody is going to tell to you bugger off.

Sometimes it's nice to find a bit of camararderie on Mumsnet and discover that you are not the only one who finds the MN Police tiresome and who hates those passive aggressive posters who sometimes follow you from thread to thread. It's nice to have a laugh and you might even find that you make new friends and start to get to know other posters (although I have a memory like a sieve which is why I never namechange as I'd never keep up with myself).

It is frustrating when you have PMs of support on a thread where you feel in the minority. You feel like asking them if they would please support you in public too. I do wish some posters would be brave enough to stand up for themselves as they might find that they have more backing than they thought. Smile

There, a serious post. No mention of ducks or fucks or minges.
Oops

" my name is well known on here with some MNers through that"

I tend to squash people, or physically assault them (in a virtual way of course) by way of welcome Smile

Good point Beer. We're thread sluts and furious exchangers of gossip via PMs togevver :)

Pagwatch · 08/09/2011 16:53

I agree with rhubarb.
It is sad if the op has had lots of pms supporting her. Why would anyone not say what they think on the thread.

And who are the mn police?

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 08/09/2011 16:54

I've never come across (if you'll pardon the pun) Rhubarb before today but was quite happy to get up and close and personal with her frou frou. I'm hoping sure she didn't mind too much.

I'm just a bit cyber tactile methinks.

I haven't squashed anyone lately though Beers!

Pag, I've been on threads where I've had an opposing view and the same regular names come on to snurk or laugh or tell me I'm talking rubbish etc etc and it can turn quite ugly. I'll get PMs backing me up but never on the thread. I guess they don't want to get the bollocking I'm getting. Understandable.

The MN Police are the posters with the little blue hats on with lights that flash - have you never seen them?
