Well, yes, YABU and a bit petty. Glad you are going to say sorry.

However... I have never, ever bought any of my IL's presents. It's up to DH and that's that. Quite frankly i have enough on my plate with thinking up and researching gifts for and from every single member of my side of the family, and sometimes even buying and wrapping them, including DH's, DD's and my own. DH is kind enough to recognise that if he took advantage the way my family do I would goose his nuts off be most put out.

Hullygully · 07/09/2011 18:41

he doesn't WANT biscuits, all he wants is a card from his wee soldier.

write another one and pop it round. go on. and disguise the writing.

ScrambledSmegs · 07/09/2011 18:43

Hmm. Think I meant wedgie. Whole different meaning...

CindersInGrottyMansion · 07/09/2011 18:43

that would look

very odd

putting another card through the door

dh is not here
has he hidden a card just from himself

OP posts:
Hullygully · 07/09/2011 18:44

no no, you say, oh look, i'm so sorry, your wee soldier left this and i completely forgot it earlier.

CindersInGrottyMansion · 07/09/2011 18:46

okay

will consider dh is six foot eight though

maybe wee soldier is not a good term...

OP posts:
CindersInGrottyMansion · 07/09/2011 18:47

ps

what is german for wee soldier

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 07/09/2011 18:47

Grin at 'wee soldier'.

You should vary it though, Hully. How about 'lil man'?

Hullygully · 07/09/2011 18:48

he'll always be a wee soldier to his dadda.

how about lil bubba?

Hullygully · 07/09/2011 18:49

German?

is that strictly necessary?

CindersInGrottyMansion · 07/09/2011 18:52

hmmmmm

Yes im in Austria

and dh is in the uk
at the mo

anyone in Liverpool can try toget dh to send his dad a card

OP posts:
Hullygully · 07/09/2011 18:53

right funny lot

and no Im not Austrian,

LoveInAColdClimate · 07/09/2011 18:59

YABU but you know that already! I understand your frustration but I assume your DH picks up the slack in other ways (I hope)! When I'm feeling cross about being the one who always remembers birthdays, does DIY and sorts out day to day housework, I make an effort to remember that DH books holidays, sorts out most tedious money stuff, and is lovely about helping with housework at the weekends when he's around more. Can you try to think of similar things to help you feel less resentful?

CindersInGrottyMansion · 07/09/2011 19:01

no
Im truly struggling to see how dh picks up the slack

sorry

two conferences three days apart
no maybe there is more than a name on the card
but hey ho

YABVU, are you supposed to work together? I presume he does things for you, supports the household by working etc.

exoticfruits · 07/09/2011 19:12

I don't even think it is understandable to say it is DHs responsibility-you are all part of one family and you do things to please them, not get into petty arguments over who should do it.

upahill · 07/09/2011 19:18

Ha! not putting DH's name on FIL's present is chicken corn.
I have just been reading the thread about the OP allegedly not putting her DH's clothes in the washing machine because it is servile.

Your going to have to up your game cinders if you want to be really!! UR!!! Grin
