Fuck you then. I'll buy it off someone else Hmm

toobreathless - sellers can only leave positive feedback, ebay changed it ages ago.

malakadoush · 06/09/2011 20:14

OP - if you buy in a shop or from a shops website you pay immediately - why not to ebay seller too? at the end of the day many ebayers are running businesses and trying to make a living. There is no excuse for not paying immediately - at least when they accept paypal.

toobreathless · 06/09/2011 23:32

Really? Wow! Can you tell I've never tried to leave negative feedback for a buyer!

Peachy · 07/09/2011 10:17

It's one of the great Ebay buyer-seller imbalances

As is the thing where paypal refund unles syou ahve a RM receipt number regardless of whether you advertised for recorded prices, if buyer wants refund for non recorded item they bought AND received it's easy for them to get.

sarahtigh · 07/09/2011 10:30

though if not sent recorded if they say not received you will have to refund, however it does not happen very often, DH and 1 sold well over 200 items this has happenned twice no reasion to think either was fraud but it depends more on items seems to happen more with DVD mobile phone electronics than say door furniture or books, however sometimes have suspected when someone says it arrived broke it may not have done,

you have to bear in mind that if you send everything recorded delivery you may well get low stars in DSR for P&P as i think 1st class recorded for 2 pairs of second hand tights is ridiculous I get really annoyed by people who sell at 99p but charge £3.50 postage and when it arrives it cost £1.33 if you did that to me would email pointing out excess profit and postage and suggest partial refund but would be tempted to mark down on stars if everything else ok, but i never leave negative unless emails ignored or refusal to see they were wrong. i buy and sell on ebay and can see both sides but buyers are generally the winners but overall ebay saves you loads of money and makes you more than advetising in local paper so you just have to suck up the odd bad experience.

sarahtigh - Thanks, looks like some reasonable prices on that site.

IfoundmyGspot · 07/09/2011 12:29

You bid on the sellers terms, you pay on the sellers terms.

If I don't like a shop I'll go elsewhere. Same principle applies.

LDNmummy · 07/09/2011 13:28

G1nger sadly by the time the whole farce was over, the option to leave feedback had timed out.

But I'm confident I will not be the only person to have an issue with this seller so someone else will get the opportunity.

OP YABU. IMO payment should be made ASAP for items. I don't think Ebay purchases should be made unless you can pay there and then.

G1nger · 07/09/2011 14:07

If someone still makes a killing on the purchase of an item/ set of items, I really can't see what difference the P&P costs make. I sold a £70 kettle recently for £36 - and made about £5 profit also on the P&P. If that person had marked me down, I'd have been really pissed. When bidding for an item, I add on the P&P and decide what my ceiling price is on that basis. I hardly expect the P&P cost to be accurate to the penny.

Peachy · 07/09/2011 14:53

Sarah we sell a few thousand a year: some high value and too big for recorded mail so one or two refunds would actively knock us.

Dh must be doing OK- he's a powerseller and has excellent feedback stats- but there is a real ease for people to take the piss if they want to.

We don't make a killing, we make a living and barely- enough to see dh through uni is all.

YABU

I have had (quite a large parcel) packed up and ready to post for 3weeks now and the arsehole buyer still hasn't paid, I was selling the stuff to clear out spare room as I'm due a baby in 6 weeks and can't get bedroom decorated or furnished because it's all taking so long.

I agree with a previous poster uk buyers seem to want everything for nothing and then complain about the least thing!
