If your child's teacher was also a stripper and starred in a porn movie....

Do you think the decision to find this teacher guilty of unacceptable professional conduct... but to allow them to continue teaching, was a fair one?

I'm in two minds really as surely the kids would see a teacher like that as a bit of a joke now? Confused

Well, at least he's fit and active, there have been threads complaining about teachers setting a bad example by being overweight and unhealthy.
He probably saves on gym membership too.

I'm sure he can still be a good teacher as well as a stripper but I have to say in terms of "upholding the reputation of the professions" you wouldn't get away with that in nursing, you'd be removed from the register.

I do know an RMN who does adult modelling as well as work on a psych ward...don't know how she gets away with it to be honest.

As a man it's seen as a bit of a joke but women who do it are viewed as sluts etc.

He has only been allowed to continue teaching if he gives up the stripping. I think he has got off rather lightly personally.

I don't believe the decision would have been different if he had been a woman.
There is Equality legislation and the HRA in place to deal with that. There is no suggestion in the article that his teaching has been sub standard so it seems fair that he should continue.
Parents can't completely stop their children from accessing porn. He wasn't passing it around in his lessons.

That's the thing. How would you stop...say a 17yr old from viewing porn on their phone? I mean how would the parents even know?

Even if you wouldn't or couldn't stop a 17 year old viewing porn you would still have impressed upon them that viewing adult material carries adult responsibilities

Ie. Not telling other children about it or taking the piss out of an adult

I refuse to believe any pupil of any age wouldn't be simply bursting to tell the rest of the school...no matter how they've been brought up!

When you stumble across your teacher in a porn trailer, find out he's a stripper and a naked Butler....you'd have to have had your entire soul removed not to get straight on the phone to your mates!!

In reality, as long as porn and porn-related activities are legal, then it will always be an issue. People will make money doing morally dubious things.
The only resolution is to end stripping and porn films and related activities as legal options. This man was obviously making a choice, rather than being forced into it, but it's still sleazy.

Maybe he doesn't give a stuff who knows? After all, he's not breaking the law...

Hard to say without knowing the full story. Nothing to suggest he isn't a good teacher, and who says teachers have to be squeaky clean and spend all evening poring over marking? There should be a variety of teachers including some who are young/a bit different to provide a variety of role models. He should have been able to manage his teaching during working hours, with evenings free for his second job. It's a shame that low wages in teaching encourage teachers to find another source of income.

Actually, he may now be the coolest teacher in that school. Depending on how the first few days back are handled, he might actually command some respect now.
I don't think a 17 yr old looking at porn is any big deal and sharing a particularly tasty nugget with mates is only natural. What's the worst he/she is going to do? Have a wank?
Perish the thought.......

When my DH was at school, he said there was a rumour going round that a male teacher had been in a porn movie.

To this day he has no idea if it was true....but he said the kids nicknamed him Mr Pornflakes.

I have no idea why I felt the need to share that Grin

I had a teacher who was a former page 3 girl (in the 70's) and tbh she was seen as a sad joke by most of the kids. We found out from one of the lads dads vintage porn stash which soon started appearing bluetacked to the blackboard
